So... will Anno fans have an apportunity to enjoy projecting playing on maps created by themselfs :]?
In previous Annos there were only fan mods allowing to edit scenarios - I don't even know if they were co-operating with other language versions than German and English.

With Anno 1503, there were only fan mods for editing, but Anno 1602 had an editor included with the game.
Included? Where?
In our (polish) version there was nothing even similar to editor. Wasn't it available only in german version or required downloading something?
I remember that there was a page with a special program that allows us creating maps.
Whatever... will it be included in 1701 :]?
In Germany it was included in the Addon for Anno 1602, but I dont know if this Addon was released in poland. As for the second question, I dont know.
It was in the version released in the United States. The US version does include the Add-on, I guess that is why we have the editor as well.
I just figured it was in each version.
If you want to use custom islands in your editing, you have to either download them from Annopool or create them with Sir Henry's Island Editor.

I think its a great idea they are including a mods for editing , just what i need after all i get kinda bored playing the same maps . Since Im a art student i like to fiddle around and create stuff from nothing at all so editing i welcome it no more like a challage than get out ur trust pen and paper and bring a simple idea to life , well in this case i mean starting from scratch , just think of it eh the possibiltys are endless , :hello:

So than the Sunflowers will be able to say "Our computer games are indispensible for young students" ;)
Well, but I remember as well spending hours in Age of Empires and creating everething - it was about 9 years ago in the beggingig of primary school :].
Oh but, BaldJim, the game of 1602 has a much bigger following to this day than 1503. Player made scenario's made with the built in editor is the reason for this fact. Many of the player made scenario's are much more challenging than the ones shipped with the games. Also the constant supply of newly created scenarios keeps the game fresh and interesting.

I agree with Dobber on this. And as to imagination, creating new scenarios and new islands utilizes the imagination far more than staying inside the predefined box of scenarios provided by the orginal game.
They even issued the 'In the name of the King' add on for 1602 which was player created scenarios.
I have played 1602 for years and still have not done all the scenarios on the annopool.
From what I have read and heard the new Anno will be more of the kind of game you play BaldJim, more geared to continuous play. There is no Campaign and I think a very few scenarios. I myself like scenarios and Campaigns, with definite goals to reach, that end once the goals have been obtained. With continuous play once I have built my settlement and then taken all the others, I am ready to start afresh.

few scenarios? no campaigns? Oh No
They are including an editor aren't they?
Did they decide to let us create our own scenarios?
We do have some very creative scenario developers.
I do not know if the editor is being released with the game. Reason being 3D game generally are more difficult to create maps.
But they may have made a User friendly editor to release to those willing to take up the challenge. I would not expect it to be simple. It would take an experienced person in programming editing.
I had a go at Caesar IV editor and I am able to make scenarios, but good Lord it is not easy!
I agree tht an Editor does increase longevity, I bet it will be included on the obligatory Add-on disk if it is met with success.
:halloha:
There will be no editor being released with the game.
Sunflowers will have a meeting with some Annoholics to talk about an editor.
The meeting will be in the first days of November, when there are enough people, who will join it.
for 1602 there is an editor within the AddOn, that editor was made by a fan (don't know the name now)
For 1503 there is an editor made by drkohler & HJB/Bomi
For 1701 we hope to get one with the AddOn :go: let's wait and see.

Building maps for multiplayer would be nice....
Most times there are very few maps delivered with the game and after a while they get boring. I'd love to make some maps with rivers, waterfalls, small streams, mountains and beautiful nature.:go:

A map editor most likely would not include an option to create your own islands. The 1602 editor mentioned by LadyH is a scenario/map editor and the 1503 editor by drkohler is a scenario/map editor.
There are separate island editor's, for 1602 we have Sir Henry's Island editor and for 1503 we have drkohler's Island editor.
For an island editor for 1701 we may have to wait for a fan developed one!
