View Full Version : Virus Found In Koh Please Explain
I have AVG from Girsoft and my anti virus program has not detected any files associated with this game to be a Trojan. Norton and Macafee are the two worst anti virus programs out there. If your a gamer that dose not want your anti virus program taking over your computer (Big footprint, Resource hog, Scans in the middle of a game, Reports fales infected files.) Then dump Norton/McAfee and get a real anti virus program that works and wont take over your system. AVG is the best anti virus software out there and they have a free version that you can try to see if you like it. I have the pay version on all 5 of my families home computers and I am the Computer Administrator for my work and we also have AVG on all our work stations and Server.

If you check your local settings/temp you will find a file called ZZ1ZZ1A.
Open it. It is from KoH. I would guess this could have been my hook.

That could have been your problem, but I can't say for sure as I empty/purge my temporary files daily (and almost every time I download or intall anything also). The local settings folder is a duplicated file though as it would also be in WINDOWS\Temp as well as all the files are there for not only one but every user on the system.

To white knight
did you say that your KoH was rented if so i rented MTW and my anti virus also said i had a trogen virus but it turned out it was game spy trying to intall itself on my computer (it also was the second disk) and it only seems to happen when i buy a used game. i would't stop playing KoH until you know exaclty what is causing the virus first because my KoH is bug free. :go:
First I want to say I think Sunflowers has the most caring people of anyone out there. As far as Norton goes I would say that they are a major pain in the A$$.I bought their System Works and Internet Security online and then everytime I tried to play on-line it would say I was being attacked and it would also report a virus from some of the software I downloaded from companies I trust completly. My grandson and I networked our comps together and it said he was attacking me.Then after I had already took their stuff off my comp 6 months before I got an e-mail from Symantec(makers of Norton) charging me for their new edition.I never authorize anyone to auto charge me for renewals of anything but they did.You will find no phone numbers for customer support from them and they make it almost impossible to contact them to talk to someone in person.I had to call my bank and get the number they used to charge my card before I was able to contact anyone and then they said it would be 5 days before they would refund my money. So you can trust Norton but I would rather trust Sunflowers.I like System Mech altho sometimes it can be a pain.My advice is Windows Defender if for nothing else they list a phone number by which you can contact them.Check whatever you use out.It will surprise you how many give you no way to reach anything but a FAQ page.I think if you will be honest with yourself you would know you have not got a virus from Sunflowers.Your pain in the butt is from Norton. They will protect you from most threats but they go too far and ruin your fun with their system. For today that is my 2 cents and I say thanks if for nothing else but letting me vent my fellings about Symantec and their product and almost non-support:cheers:
I have to agree, Norton is a horrible anti virus. I have Trend Micro and AVG, and none of them detected a virus.

I have both Norton SystemWorks (which includes the Anti-Virus) 2006 and the Personal Firewall 2006, and I never detected this. So, my opinion is in total disagreement. Things have to be taken into account like keeping the system "clean" as well, which many don't.
Sincerely,
Phil
