I know that there are a lot of things to be shaped and changed until the game hit the shelves, so I may grab your attention for a while and ask:

Could the peasants be made to look different from one another? Because on the screenshots that I have seen all the peasants stand the same way and their armament is also so 'static' and strange. I know you can't possibly make different models for all the units, but I consider it strange for the peasants to look the same way. maybe some of them could be armed with bludgeon or hoe? And their clothes' color vary in the nuance of gray?

koh 1 - attack of the clones :D

i support this suggestion!
various clothes, different hair, thin and fat, small and high peasants :bday:

it also would be nice to see them not "tin soldiers" / "parade" like in the same positions, but a little bit different

maybe to late and to difficult, hmm?

I'm agree, but maybe graphic artists are too busy to do something like this. This is a question for Frujin.

PD: If not, it's fine. This is not a priority right now.

if black sea studios could do that it would be pretty nice but i dont think they will do that . in almost every strategy game i have seen the units all look the same. uniforms and weapons
yeah every thing .i dont think they will change ther plans about the peasants

I fancy different colours are not necessary, because it'll get a way too colourful. Furthermore, the medieval peasants couldn't afford coloured clothes. Just a nuance of gray will do the work.

BTW do you know that the red colour was really hard to make and it was the colour of the Byzantine royal family, because they were the only one to know how to dye the cloth in bright, vivid red. Later the violet was considered the colour of the kings, because it was even harder to acquire and only rich could afford to have a violet clothing.

I agree too. Just a little bit of variation would be nice.

I also think that it would be quite awesome it the peasants had different clothing and weapons, because it think that back in those times the peasants fought with what they had, but i don't think that the lack of this would "ruin" KoH, it would just be nice little detail.

I think that different weapons and a few kinds of clothes will be enought.:D

The main problem could be that artists made one figure of every unit and then "copy-paste" to have a full unit.

yea, that is usually the case, but it can't hurt to be optimistic.

do you know only ONE RTS Game or turn based, where the units in a group look different? i dont
in C&C1, 2,3 etc. if you have your rifle man or grenadiers, they all look the same, the 100th just loo like the first. same the with wrcraft, warhammer, mtw,... take whatever game of this kind you want
so i dont think its a problem

of course its no problem. but - wouldnt it be nice to make the first strategy game with different looking units?
= place in the gamer's hall of fame
= starting a new graphics era
= possibility for a press release
= last but not least: it would look great!

always try to make it better!

1. that can be possible without the "different peasants"
2. the game is in 2d so even if every pixel would look different its is not possible for a 2d game to start a new graphik era
3. already happened
4. maybe

1. i hope it will be in gamers hall of fame for many reasons!!!
2. so in your opinion there are only two graphic eras: 2d and 3d? well, thats not my opinion!
3. so in your opinion there is only 1 press release per game possible? well, thats not my opinion again... :D

of course 1-4 are possibilities, not "must-happens".

but whats your problem? are you against different looking units?

I'm for not-clonned peasants, but Rome won't fall with all-the-same-looking-peasants :D

It's funny! Before more than a week I was thinking about the same thing! But I think there's no time to do that. Maybe for an expansion or KoH2! It will definitely look great and it will help the game to look more realistic! But for now those are just dreams!

It is normal for the standing army to look the same. But for the peasants... I would reckon it strange. But I think that we are so used to all-the-same units that wouldn't really notice anything wrong. But yes, nike, it's good to dream after all. :)
