View Full Version : A New Princess .
Aussies are a very easy going and relaxed people,
and it is very multi-cultural over here.
We like to think we can accept any peace-loving foreigner and just show them to Party ,Party and Party some more.:cheers:
Most Aussies don't worry what others say about us as well,after all its their right.Aussies really enjoy being relaxed about everything.
And I can say,at least in my location{Brisbane area, more or less}
Everybody is very happy for Mary and Prince Frederik
And I'm sure the rest of the country feels the same.
btw; My uncle has moved from Germany to Denmark a couple of years ago and is very happy there.
I'll have to look for his address,see where he is exactly.
(my Father is German/my Mother English)
Just checked,
The live coverage of the Wedding ,starts at midnight on Friday over here.
Still be at work though.
I'm still not used to seeing Denmarks and Australia's flags being waved around together.(Its usually the English flag in place of Denmarks)
Ahh The wonders of the modern world,huh.
Just think in the 18th-19th Centuries it would have been impossible for an Aussie women to become a Danish Princess.
btw; The Palace Guards look cool, Ive always liked the old uniforms.

It's funny you say this about danish/australian flags, coz i don't seem wrong to me or the rest of the danish population i think - eventhough we are normaly used to only seeing the Dannebrog ( the danish flag ) all over the place - i think the reason why the danes waves both the danish and the australian flag is to show Mary, her family and the rest of australia their respect - the country which have blessed us with such a lovely crown princess.
She has done something in the crownprince - ( we saw him in tears in church - even before she even had entered ! ) and in the VERY personal speech he gave her during the wedding dinner.
I think he ( the crown prince ) loves her more than we ever could imagine us - and so does both the queen and her husband.

yeahhh, and a little help from the olympicgames and a famous bar - all ya need is just a little spoon of magic - right ;)

Okay, i have always admired the english palace gaurds and i really think that it's cool to have a cavalery to protect the royals ( the household cavalery ) - I have always looked upon our palace gaurds as small "toy soldiers" - however when you're standing and obseving them when they do their changing of the gaurd routine then you can't help admire them a little.
Hi Henrik,
How was the wedding did you watch it all,I haven't had a chance yet?.Just got home.
Over here the press is calling it an Aussie invasion of Denmark,as thousands of us Aussies came over for the Wedding.
I hear also that Prince Frederik purchased 4 of our barbaques to take home to Demark.
Mary loves to have a good barbie.
now it my turn.......YOUR KIDDING RIGHT !
Yes ofcaurse i did and what a party that was - i even read some news on australian news sites, so i was sure not to miss a think !
It was nice to see all those danish and aussie flags, both in the streets and when they arrived at Amalienborg ( the queens residence ) for the much awaited kissing on the balcony scene - look at my last post !
For further look at this coverage from Hellomagazine.com (http://www.hellomagazine.com/royalty/2004/05/14/danishwedding/) - look at "The most memorable moments"
Cool, I'll watch it in the next couple of days,I,ve got a few days off.
I'm just happy our silly government didn't embarass us,like it has lately.
Just curious how often do you hear about Australia, apart from the wedding of course?.:cheers:

We don't hear LOADS about Australia from the telly i must admit that, but i don't think that Aussies has to ashamed of their government. But when we do hear of Australia it's always about something nice like: your vast nature, the wildfires which almost suffocates Sidney !!
Btw, did you know that the Crownprince's brother H.R.H Prince Joachim has be studying farming in Australia - i think he stayed there for aprox. 6 month or so at a sheepfarm - i think it was - so Australia are not unknown territory for our royals....;)
Btw, i meet a girl once from Australia ( and SHE was NICE ) on a bar in the town where i lived - :( - she even telephoned me the day she left telling me her adress back in Australia - but it was back in 1992 - just before the internet became popular so that relationship was dead in the water even before it had started - i remember she came from a place called Cronulla - i'd probably did not spell it right.

Yeah Sydney is certainly a very lucky city,and beautiful too.
The English Princes have done the same lately.
Prince Henry was over here not so long ago ,training to be a Jackaroo for several months.
I think even if Australia is very relaxed in the cities,our Outback is still a very harsh and untamed place.
Good for toughening up everybody
I think this marriage will benefit you aussies in a positive way - i.e our crownprince marrying a girl from down under - this will sorta put Australia in the leauge with other royal nations.
I don't know much about how aussies perceives the english royals, but if it was me, i would feel that they were awfully far away - i think that Australia can be very proud to have girl marrying not only into a royal house, but the oldest one of them - i'd say that's a pretty good first try - if you know what i mean :)
btw, I have also heard that the Crown princess have scottich blood running in her veins - i.e it look like her farther John belongs to a very old scottish clan or atleast some of his ancestors - he btw, gave a great speech and the wedding guests clapped their hands.....i CANNOT remember EVER to have heard this at a royal wedding before ! I don't think that the guests are supposed to do THAT - because they didn't when do when the queen held her speech, but his speech was great and i'll guess he deserved it.
I myself am very found of Australia's Royal ties,and I am very proud that we now have ties to two countries.
But unfortunately the country is generally split 50% Monarchists, 50% Republican, approx.
btw; A few months ago there was a story that created quite a stir in the English Royal family.
There is a man that lives in Perth that claims he is the true Heir
to the English throne,he can trace his family tree back a fair way.
But he is a Republican,and is not interested.
My girlfriend thinks he's crazy,but he can suposedly prove it.
Don't know if you heard about it?.
{If I was him ,I'd take up the claim,just think all that money,ha ha}:) :D :cheers:

NOW that's an interesting story - and you're right i haven't heard of it - but certainly likes to :p
but i can't understand why he don't do more about it - eventhough he's a republican :confused: - so i sorta smell a hoax here....
I would certainly do everything i could to accepted if i could prove that i had royal ancestors - just THINK of all those cool parties you would be invited to......

Yeah , just to many benefits,he also says he loves Australia to much to leave, yeah right!
How cool :cool: would it be for an Australian to be King of England:D
He's crazy alright.
gotta go the kids are kicking me off the computer:cheers:
Finally watched the Wedding,
Pretty cool Stuff.
The Danish Royal Guard looked great.{alot more pleasing to the eye than the eeky Camo suit I used to wear}
Security looked pretty tight though,poor security having to jog alongside the Royal Coach.
They say Approx. 20% of Demarks Pop. came to watch.
Also found out Denmark & Australia are partners in another little adventure lately{ think,Bush}
Overall nice Wedding.:)
Its really cool ,the Royal family are going out of their way to stock up on Aussie food,so Mary dosen't get homesick.
btw;My Uncle lives on an Danish Island called Endav{not sure if thats right spelling,but Dad says it begins with E }
