Or maybe in a KoH expansion. ;)
btw and what about Oil cauldrons?
There was quite new screenshot with one, but in unit showcase they are not for such a long time :(
Great info, thanks alot,Frank
btw; just a little question?,
Once a seige has been started ,can the defenders be reinforced from outside?. {ie. reinforcements sneak in at night}:)

Yes but he can then only "break the siege" = a Town Assault map is loaded then. Reinforcing Marshal appears outside of the Town, besieged Army inside.
Cool Thanks alot,
Also, just wondering whats the Max. number of men that can be in a battle?, GamersPulse preview wasn't to clear on that.
I really am eager to play KOH,Great work.:D :D

It seems like we are getting a bit ignored here regarding those oil cauldrons !
We have talked about it and as i replied in this post (http://forum.sunflowers.de/showthread.php?s=&action=&postid=26079#post26079) they may come with castles at no extra charge - as a castle standard defensive equipment or CSDE for short ;)
@devs,
Would you be able to describe how exactly the oil cauldron works in battle.
-Does it pour automatically when an enemy unit goes underneath?
-Is it manually controlled via *left click/r click*
-Does it need to be purchased, or does it come as part of the castle?
-Does it "kill" the unit/s in its radius, or just send them running around?
Thanks :)

Oil cauldron is an upgrade of the town. To equip you need to have Tower Gates. But you buy for all Gates in once the cauldron.
You manually select the cauldron and click on the enemy.
The cauldron needs a bit to refill.
It kills all units in the centre and you see them running around burning.
Then i was almost correct in my assumption that it would come together with a castle - i was damn close IMO ;)

@Frank Fay
But Frank, does that sound real? :(
Are you planing to be just like the rest and give trebuchets the power to destroy a wall in just 10 seconds?? I mean, all right is a game and do as you want. Why should I care...
But did you ever think in moving the trebuchets and maybe catapults to the siege part of the game? (INSTEAD OF THE ASSAULT PART) Like if having trebuchets would be a kind of upgrade to the siege abilities: You not only starve defenders but destroy walls over time...
And in the assault part you can use the laddermen and the siege towers.
In that way not only siege towers would be back but it would be just like it was in real life! If you want a quick taking, then fight and pay for it with the blood of your troops! And no with stones!
Also it would add the siege part a new emphasis. Like in Medieval Times... You can use it not only to soften the defending troops but also the defenses, but that takes time!
Did you ever consider something like that? Can be interesting... I know it is a radical new concept, but.... maybe the reward is good.
Also this is Knight of Honor...
"Gundpowder gave bravery to the weak and coward".
Wouldn't be the same thing with trebuchets breaching a castle, the symbol of the Middle Ages, in 20 seconds?

I think (hope) the time of the destroying will be good. (not to fast and not to long)
I think I will use Trebuchets more for the castle, only for the wall I will use laddermans, catabults and ballistas.
Btw: Can you take control over the enemy gate and open it?

Btw: Can you take control over the enemy gate and open it?How do you take control of a gate from outside? I guess the only way to open a closed gate is to destroy it ;) .
@ Trebuches:
The battles are quick. So we'll cut the 'wait until the wall is broken'-part off and initiate the assault immediately.
Angryminer
I hope that breakink walls will take long time, IMO it will be good if a wall break only after more than 10 hits by trebuchet, not too fast, but still not like in reality of middle ages where it must took more far more hits.
I also hope that if the walls will be broken in one siege, it will be still broken until the conqueror rebuild them.
So f.e. one army is trying to capture enemy town which is expecting strong reinforcements. Sieging army will decide to assault the castle and they will brake walls and capture the castle. But when those reinforcements arrive in a while, the walls will be still broken and not untouched like in f.e. Heroes series. How do you take control of a gate from outside? I guess the only way to open a closed gate is to destroy it I think he meant case when you use laddermen, climb the tower gate, take control over it and open it for your forces which are mostly outside

Let me also to point out that breaking walls do not happen that fast. Also to carry a Trebuchet you need a marshall with a fully developed skill for doing that.

Good news about the time!:)
Please excuse my impatience, but how does it work with the gates?

When you manage to place troops on the gates of your enemy, you control it and can open it. Als you can break the gates with a battering ram but be aware, if there is an oil cauldron:)
And the rebuilding?
Will the walls be damaged untill rebuilding or right after battle it will be again without any damage?
