Just installed Anno. Started the game and it was asking for a serial number. Typed everything correctly. The game says the Serial is invalid.

I've looked so forward to play this game and I'm sure I typed everything right.

I am not sure, if I remeber correctly, but I heard something said about the serial number to be typed only in small character (or largeones..I do not remember) but in only one form of them...mayb you just try again by only tyoing in small characters (and if this is not working in large ones)...

but as I said.. I do not remeber exactly, if this will solve the problem..

You also could change the numbers in your registry. (from big letters to small ones)
I think that helped a user in teh german forum:scratch:

edit: it was large ones. I did it with large letters and it works :go:

edit2: did do also typed in this: - <-- the little line next to the . and the , i think you have to do this. I did it

I already tried both while installing. But thanks.

I've never bought any illegal copy of a game and now this. Very disappointing.

Just gonna uninstall and re-install it now. Maybee it helps. And I'm gonna take a look in my registry if there's any Demo-residue left.

Most of these kinds of problems are down to confusing some characters, mainly due to the way the codes are printed.

Here are some examples:

Number '0' and Letter 'o'
Number '5' and Letter 's'
Number '8' and Number '0'

and so forth...

it may just take some time to get the code right... Once you get it, I recommend you write it down in your own handwriting and put it in with the game box for future reference!

Don't understand what you mean with '.' and ','.

I don't have mine yet, so obviously I cannot look for the characters Flo mentions, but I am assuming there is a hyphen in the serial number and Flo is saying it needs to be entered in the number.

Forgot to say that the only drive I have is a DVD-burner. I have a barebone and only one drive fits in. I recently installed WinXP again so i don't have installed a burning programme yet.

Yes that's it. I don't know the word hyphen
I typed that together with numbers and the big letters

. and , was a help, to find the hyphen -

this little line is hard to show, if you don't know the word

I found the problem.
The thing that looked awfully much like a V was actually a U. Now the serial is correctly.
Thanks for giving me the ideas to solve this problem. :go:

Did you get a English copy? Yep, i did get the UK-version of Anno 1701. There is gonna be a Dutch version but I couldn't wait and cancelling the order after delivery is to much work for me.

The NA version could be in American English, and the UK in British English, however the demo was in British.

The Na version ? what mean NA ?

But what is the difference between them ?
English is not my first language so i can't realy see difference between british and us english, but i prefer the accent of british (more clear)

NA is North America (i think)

And probably there are a few different words or the spelling of the words is a bit diferent
