This movie looks Amazing, it is based on Battle of Thermopyla where a small combined force of different Greek states fought a force of over 1million Persians(Herodotus reported they where over 5 million!) for 3 days, killing Over 20,000(modern estimate) of them. Thu some say the number of dead where 80,000+.
The name 300 comes from the 300 Spartans that Stayed behine to fight to the death while the other Greeks retreated. Though in reality some 700 Thespians and another small group of greeks stayed with the Spartans.
Of course, the movie isn't completely accurate, as you can see in the Trailers...But looks good nonetheless.

hmm...looks a bit as if the moviemakers tried to copy some things rather from Lod of the Rings than from reality...:wink:

But I like the idea of Spartans fighting for fredom and democracy....:lol:

Lol, yeah. The thing I don't really like is the strage looking monsterlike creatures in the trailer. Hopefully the movie won't be too inclined into "fairytale" crap.:wink:
