Yes :D
Which of those wars did you like best (in the history lessons in school... )
Or if you took part in one of them, maybe you liked it... :D
Or which one you like best in Strategy-games... or movies... :D
Chose the Crusades for their Roman connection.
Did you know that during the first crusades every crusader commander crossing Roman land had to promise to return re-conquered land to the Emperor (Alexios Komnenos) or swear an oath of allegience to him, in theory making them vassals of the Emperor.
All wars are irretrievable blunder and there can't be "favorite".
btw,Adolpie has begun his "10000 posts maraton"

I dont see how you could have a favorite war. War is the killing of many people who all have lives of their own. It is not appropriate to say that a war is pretty or anthing like that. But I would have to say the War in Iraq....not for the cause, but for the toys and gadgets. Like the M1A2 Abrams Tank!....or the B-2 Spirit Bomber or the M4 assualt rifle...or the Tomahawk Cruise Missle....the F-14 Tomcat....the 88mm Howitzer.....GPS Tracking.....Robot Recon cameras......awesome
I like the things of war but not the reasons or deaths....

hey heretic. Was not the great Egyptian Empire born from a great war to unite two divided kingdoms? :)
@Poll. Which war in Iraq? Operation Desert Storm? Operation Iraqi Freedon? or the Iran-Iraq war?
The Punic Wars. Rome vs Carthage. Which? First or Second? :) I prefer the Second really. Great battle at Zama. :)

Emperor of Byzantium. yep. He made they swear allegiance BEFORE they crossed the Bosporus.(sp?) The middle ages biggest traffic jam. lol.. Imagine thousands of men horses and wagons piled up waiting to cross a river. hehe.

It's a strait actually. Although there are currents in the both direction...kind like in a river.
I don't think anyone gave back conquered land though...IIRC Alexios son Ioannes or grandson Manuel forced a count give up Antioch, but I don't remember it that directly had something to do with their oath...
A great feat though by Alexios, to keep all those uncivilized (compared to the Romans!) crusaders from causing more damage than they did in the Balcans and Anatolia. They could easily have defeated any resistance by the Emperors army...
Wonder if he really let all the crusaders to enter Constantinople, think not...

i dont like any war because it kills people. but if you mean witch sort of style war i would say ww2 even thought what it did to thw world
I prefer no real war (just in games), But my favorite war to study when I was in school is not listed. In elementary school I was mesmerized by the American Revolution, In high scholl the American Civil War was very intrigueing(maybe because of the area where I live is so immersed in Civil War history).

Nobody voted in WWI? I think it was very interesting.
I chose Napoleon's Wars. He was a great man. At age 26 he was already a French General, did not born from a rich family and could make his country stable. He nearly conquered the Europe (KoH mission) and so the world.
WW 2 was interesting too. Hitler, for the sake of the humanity, was not very applicated in his studies. If he was good in school and learned history, he wouldn't do the same mistake of Napoleon. It was too late for Hitler realize that nobody can beat Russia's most skilled and experienced general: General Winter (thanks God for giving the world such a great general).
The Punian Wars were also spetaculars. Hannibal is one of the greatest generals the humanity ever met.
The war in Iraq was the most ridiculous and I think you shouldn't even put it here. Iraq didn't stand a chance. That was a war that didn't decide the fate of the humanity and the world like the others you listed. The most powerful nation in the world just finished off a country that was already in ruins.
you ask the question the wrongway,... war is no thing where you can say "it is my favourite" so in this case it must be another choice, like "no war, i hate war!"
if you ask about wargames,.... well there a good from us-civil war, of course lot of good games about ww2. some few good medievasl games,...

Err...
Lord_Guilherme, you said WW I was an interesting war? Well, yes, many new weapons were invented, was the first war to rage over the whole world, but...
it became boring later on! Especially for games!!!
Later in WW I there was a patt-situation, none of the sides could get an advantage, the front-line didn't move. Only later on, as the USA gave resources to the Allies, the Allies did get the advantage. And Russia has been going out of the war in 1917 and made a special peace-Vertrag (sorry, don't know the English word) with Germany, so they could recover from their inner wars (october- revolution). Did you know Germany sent Lenin back to Russia when he was in Exile? They did it to win Russia as a allie if Lenin became president and to support the revolutin (thus making Russia go out of the war)
