I forgot to say that the present Bulgarians are a mixture of the "proto-Bulgarians" (they were horse people that came somewhere from West Sibir (sometimes misplaced as Huns))and the Slavic tribes on the Balkans (Severi, the Seven tribes, Timochani, Branichevci, Smoliani etc.).

Btw. Croats and Montenegrans are not Slavs, the recent gentic reasearch has proved the south-slav thoery that was imposed on us for more than 500 years wrong. Croatian population is about 50% of EU7 geneotype, Aryan genotype that was carried by the Illyrans and since the reasearch is still not finished the percantge is still growing(from 44% to above 49% in the present).

It is only in the eastern part of Croatia(Slavonia-note the name) that the slavic genotype is dominant making it about 25% of the whole population.

The people in Istria and North-western region are of dominant proto-celetic genotypes making it about 11-12% of the whole population. And there are some other genotypes that are not worth mentioning since neither of those is above 2-3% mostly Mediterranean genotypes on the islands and by the coast.

So as you can see more than 75% of Croats are not Slavs in origin, but descendants of Illyran tribes and proto-celtic tribes that went through Croatian teritory, 'tis only in eastern part that the Slavs passed and there they are dominant but are far in minority overall.

It is interesting that one non-slavic country such as Hungaria has more than 60% of slavic genotypes making it more slavic country than Ukraine or posibbly even Russia. :p

Also while you are writing down the achivments of Bulagarians I must say I doubt you would survive in the same conditions the Croats and Croatian republic did. Croatia passed through so many troubles that it is incredible. Let's just say that we were on the line of the Avars, Huns, Mongolians, Turks, Bulagarians, Arabs, Franks, Byznatines and many others who were all repelled and Croatia endured them all.

All in all Croats didn't came where they are today by chance, they were called by the Byzantine emperor Heraclio(Heraklije) who didn't chose them by chance you know, they were a nation of mighty horse-warriors and he called them to fight of the Avars and indeed they did so, but what he didn't predicted that they will love this piece of land so much as they did and still do. ;)

Finally Croats do not have great "war achivments" for they have swore and oath to the Pope and themselves they will never lead any wars against others except those to defend themselves if attacked. It is not by chance as well that Croatia got the name "Antemurale Christianitatis" in the War against Turks. ;)

I don't think it's nesccessary to write down all the heroic deeds Croats did for you can find them yourself on the net. :p

Then let me explain why I wrote down a little part of our history. Because you said that Bulgarians are not famous with their strong warriors, which is not true (actually, I've never heard about croatian great warriors).

About our origin - I've said we are 1/2 Steppe horsemen and 1/2 Slavs. Ofcourse the "proto-bulgarians" have had contacts with a lot of nations (Persians, Turks, Arabs, Mongols and mostly Huns) during their travelling to the West, but we are still Bulgarians.

About the surviving - I doubt you could survive so long, while you have borders with the strongest nation in Europe - Byzantium, and then just in front of the assault of the Turkish fanatism.

And btw when have you kicked our butts.

I think non nation had easy conditions to survive and lot of them didn't, but please don't compare it. All nations had some complicated periods with which they deal someway, stay alive or "extinct". But you can't say "YOU IN MY CONDITIONS WOULDN'T SURVIVE".

Of course, he wasn't in yours and maybe you wouldn't survive in his. But why argue about it???
