Hi,
I've got a problem. Me and a friend want to play Anno 1701 with each other via LAN. For most of the games we play via LAN we use Hamachi, and everything goes fine with those. But with Anno 1701 we can't even see each others game.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance
Welcome to the forum, Assasijn! :halloha:
Are you both running the same version of the game? By that I mean, are you both running unpatched ver. 1.00 or patched ver. 1.01 or ver. 1.02? And if patched, are you both patched to the same patch number.

Hey, me and my friend are having the same problem right now.
We're not even using Hamachi, we're under the same connection.
And yes, we are both patched to the same game number since we both installed the game off the same CD. I think it's 1.0.
Any suggestions on what we could do to make this work?

You'll need to buy another copy of the game to obtain a different code key number.. Same #'s won't get you multi-player.

Not even lan??? x.x
Will a CD key i find on a website work?
Because my friend is just visiting with his laptop and we probably wont get to do this again any time soon so it's useless to buy another copy =\
CD has to be in the drive to play the game! And downloading CD keys from the internet is illegal, and discussing such activity in the forum is against the rules and regulations you agreed to in becoming a member of this forum. Please refrain from following that line of questioning.
If you want to play multiplayer each player must have a legitimate copy of the game.

Cool cool, so let's say we both have a legitimate copy of the game.
Now there's a new problem, my friend can see the game name in the lan list of games but when he tries to join it says "There's no more room for other players"
But all the slots are "open"
x.x
Any suggestions?
But you have already said you do not, until you truly both have legitimate different copies of the game and not the same copy installed on 2 PC's and legitimately get that message can anything be explored.
I do not think you will get that message when you both have legitimate different copies of the game on your PC's!

gah kk
I guess we gonna have to play something else. Even if i wanted to get a second copy it's 11:25 pm, no stores are open.
PS: I was just wondering, has anyone ever successfully played the game via lan?
I have not ever tried, but I know that there are some that have played it via LAN!

Cool, i'll give it a try again sometime.
And one last question, 1503 A.D didn't have a multi-player did it? I think i got two copies of it lying around somewhere here, if it did we could play that.
1503 that was released in the US had the MP tool removed.
The first releases of 1503(the German release) included the MP tool although it was not functioning very well. A couple hours of gameplay was all that was possible.
I have playtested the MP in 1503 on the US version and even with tweaks and modified files from the UK version(needed because the expansion was required to utilize the modifications that users had made to make the MP tool a bit more stable), we still had a problem with Asyncs

kk cool, i don't think mine has it. I got the french version. It says "Made in Britain" on the back tho :p
I remember 1602 had a multiplayer... I tried so hard to make it work but it never did lol
Is it just me or is 1503 inferior to 1602 and 1701...?
1503 is different, but I don't find it inferior. It has an economy based system instead of a tax based system, which requires a different method of gameplay. I enjoy all three of them and still play all three! As a matter of fact I have spent about 40 hours playing 1602 in the past week!

1602 is my alltime favorite too... i was so young when i first played it, didn't understand **** but i kept playing haha.. .i cried so much when i broke my CD... lol
1503 i just haven't played that much. Campain got way to hard way to fast for me.
1701 is catching up to 1602 tho, only thing i don't like is that there's no campaing... and most scenarios i played so far are kinda easy .
Yeah the scenario's in 1701 are more like a tutorial extension. I would prefer to be without the narrator! The expansion for 1701 will have a Campaign!

wow, hadn't suspect this amount of reply's.
But me and my friend have both version 1.0 and different keycodes.
Any idea what the problem can be then?
May be that the game is not compatible with the Hamachi system. Have you tried to play it without using Hamachi?

I have, says the exact same thing.
At first my friend didn't see the game at all from his laptop. Then for some reason we decided to make games with passwords, and he was able to see only those. But when he tried to join it said that it's full. Then we got hamachi, and it kept saying the same thing. So we just moved on and played something else, then after he left I found about that link. Next time i talk to him on msn i'll see if that thing mentioned in the other thread works.
ps: If you can't see the game at all try making it so it has a password, it's at the bottom left of the screen you have to write it.
