Is there other games like this one that are set later on in history, say from 1500-1900? (Hope that isn't against the rules:scratch:)

Thanks, the main problem is that most other games either don't have the large scale stategy (like AoE), the history (like Civ and AoE3), or the small scale tactics (again like Civ) or don't have a large role for the navy (which is why I want game set later then KoH). Is there plans for a KoH 2 that might be set later in history and thus have more of a role for the navy?

Maybe Europa Universalis?

also yet there is common shared dream of KoH2 and we all hope it will once come true. But we have no idea when it could be (IMO not before 2009/2010) if ever...

Thanks, can you run battles like in KoH in Europa Universalis?

No you can't. What a shame.

I strongly recommend Imperial Glory integrating large scale stategy, history, small scale tactics, navy battles and later stage in history.

The weak points in IG is no morale in battle. too much cold steel melee, navy battles is a mess if with more than three warships. endless wating time between two rounds late in gameplay. BTW, the dev guys there are not very supportive if concerns modding their game maybe it's a culture difference

Other games you might like are any of the "Total War" series (Shogun; China, Medieval 1 and 2; obvious, and Roma; Roman Empire). You control combat, have varied units, building, and strategy. I have, enjoy, and would recommend any if not all 4 myself.

Sincerely,
Phil

The correct one should be Shogun: Total War .It has nothing to do with China. My advice is to begin the series with Roman: Total War if you like. Medieval 2 is too demanding in may ways.

Medieval Total War for example.

If we are going to "nit pick" though, it's Rome, not Roman, and I prefer Medieval 2 to any myself with the first Medieval being second. Medieval being my "fancy".

If you're interested in "gunpowder warfare" then I'd say that the best game is definitely Cossacks II: Napoleonic Wars. And the game is even better if you are also interested in the wars of Napoleon.

Well if that so, I would reconmend American Conquest - Fight Back with the European Warfare: Napoleonica Mod by The Hawks . With more details please refer to:

In Cossacks II: Napoleonic Wars, as far as I remember, every squad of your men should be given order to shoot or else what: they just stand still like in their backyard being torn to pieces without a blink of their eyes. So what a tedious job you have to undertake with dozens squads of soldiers dying for your close attention.

I believe he's waiting for some of the major mods, which practically change M2TW quite a lot, to be finished and released. From what I see on our "Wrath of the Norsemen" mod, the work is quite a lot and won't be as fast as we'd wish. Medieval: Total Realism is taking its time as well, so... :rolleye:
