Rome total war is definitely the king of RTS battles. The immense engrossing value of it is awesome. Hence why the history channel uses its technology to re-enact historical battles.

But truth of the matter is. I hope KoH lives a lot longer life then the Total War series. KoH is flawed, but an awesome concept. Total War is pretty much jackin around with a couple things and setting it in a different timeline. Not only do I hate the limited turns of the Total War games. But that its turn based. I think that KoH having a real time strategic map (something I've never enjoyed before. Playing games like Lords of the realm 2. Along with other empire like war games) is a great idea. And this whole turn based crap should just be put away.

KoH if tweaked a bit. Added more content. Maybe a Knights of Honor 2. Making RTS battles similar to the total war games. And tweaking some of the aspects with it. Adding more content. And removing something I find horrendously annoying (The town buildings limitation, and the knights limitation.)
Then I think that it would be possible to be recognized as the best strategy game by the masses.

Great thread. No slamming or flaming, just good personal opinions and insights into two good, but distinctly different games. I don't own R:TW and am very happy with KOH (will be a lot happier once the patch is released) but I am seriously considering owning both now that I have read this thread. Thanks!

Since this is a R:TW thread I thought I would mention that I've been working on a mod for quite a while which currently adds 20 extra historical accurate battles ranging from Silarus River, Pharsalus, Gaugemela to Cannae 8)

Check it out: :hello:
