I have long been considering to start collecting weapons, especially swords. (Authentic replicas, or similar, real swords). But sadly my current economy doesn't allow this.

Go to antique shows or antique fairs, some swords can be picked up as low as £40!

Then you are more lucky than I am, at best I have been able to find 19:th century replicas, and hardly for anything below £100. Swords seem to be very scarce here in general.

I'm also collecting blades for several years now. :)
However, I don't have very expensive swords or daggers; after all, I'm still studying... ;)

I've got one fine single-handed, handmade blade for show-combat (I'm doing this for two years now), a Katana (replica) and a two-handed claymore (replica). My little "treasure" is an original sabre from the British Indian Army. It is dated around 1890. Unfortunately, it is in a rather poor condition.
Besides, I also have a variety of daggers, most of them Kit Rae/United Cutlery models.

When I find the time, I'll probably post some pics in here.

Greetings,
Mac

Well, my swords are not as nice as your, but they are... *special*...

I lived for 5 months in africa(Burkina Faso), this year. I'm now back home here in Québec, but I brought back with me several african crafted swords and daggers.

Ahhh, the wonder of having a numeric camera... (taking a picture and sending it on a crappy free web host)

here it is

http://www.geocities.com/vanedor1/epees.htm

From left to right :
1 Tuareg medium size curved sword with sheath in camel leather
1 saber
1 dagger
1 double bladed medium size sword. It's that one I would pick if I had a thief to throw out of my house :) The blade is rough but solid.
1 Tuareg small size decorative curved sword with sheath in camel leather
1 Tuareg dagger with blade in copper

Another great thing about them is that I paid them between 6 and 12 canadian $ or about 5-10 us$. Life is cheap in africa.

Another good site to check out is:

Also, in the New England area of the US has a great museum, Higgins Armory in Wocester, MA:

Both are highly recommended. Plus, Higgins has classes!!

Mine's a spring-steel Bastard-sword, or 1-1/2-hands-sword, meaning you can fight with both hands on the sword (for greater strike potential and accuracy) or with one hand (and, maybe, a shield in the other). It is balanced pretty well, and I'm kinda proud of it. :)
I also have a dimension-wrought belt for it, plus plate-armor gauntlets, chainmail tunic + coif and a cloak. I'm working on collecting a complete medieval ventment right now. Pretty expensive, since most of it has to be made by hand. (the boots alone will be another ~200 Euros :/) But I think it's worth the money once it is completed. And hey - there are worse ways to spend money, right? :D

Hmmm....
I will buy myself a sword in the future, and then I would really like to do some fighting with it. Anyone knows where you can make swordfighting duels? If not I'll try it out at my Latin teacher :D

There are still some student-groups that fight out duels, but most of them are gone since about 50 years.
But some older doctors and lawyers stil have those little wounds on their face :) .
