now, i hate to be the *** who breaks the news to the devs that an on and off bug like this one could have been caught and thereby have prevented that it slipped on to the full version if we have had the chance to try the demo a lot earlier....

I'll expect my copy of KoH to arrive tomorrow or the day after at the latest, and i'll also let you know if/when i experience the same problem.

I had it happen last night at home and again today at work - two different computers. Demo so I cannot repeat my actions. Today I was marching a knight in enemy territory. LAst night, I do not believe I was doing much of anything.

Last night I was playing for about an hour when it happened, but at work it was only about 30 minutes. Have 256MB Rm at home and 512MB at work.

i have had a similar problem but far worse, when the game shutsdown on me it also shuts down my computer, i'll just be playing the game and all of a sudden pc shutdown, it can happen at any point in the game while doing anything, it has happened everytime i have played the game so far, sometimes after about 10 minutes of play other times i'll be able to play for about an hour, so i dunno whats causing it, but it really makes the game unplayable, i really can't be having my pc keep shutting down all the time, its not good for the hardware to be turned on and off all the time so i really hope you get it sorted out.

P.S. the only program i had running at the same time is nod32 antivirus, nothing else was running, also i run windows xp with minimal services running in the background.

the path under a german windows is:
C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\user\Anwendungsdaten\Black Sea Studios\Knights Of Honor

should be in english:
C:\Document and Settings\user\Application Data\Black Sea Studios\Knights Of Honor

but beware, the application data folder is hidden by default.
explorer -> extra -> folder options -> view -> hidden files and folders -> show all

normally KoH shouldn't cause this kind of behavior ... ;(
can you screenshot your porcess list plz ... ?

Just a thought, I wonder if the crash is linked to changing the game speed. I did this alot in the 2 games that crashed. Yesterday, I only increased speed once, and then just left it alone. No crash.

Also, I never experienced a crash until I found about the speed settings, I was unaware of it and had 0 crashes.

I wanna say that haven't experienced any problems with running KoH - eventhough i have a lot of programs ( like NAV,MSN,Skype, a pop-up killer ) running while playing, but then again i haven't played KoH many times - only like 3 or 4 times.

Anyway, i'll let ya know if i too experience similar problems.

i'm not sure how to post an image, i don't have a http page i can host an image on buti'll just list my processes that are running they are very few

svchost.exe
svchost.exe
svchost.exe
svchost.exe
svchost.exe
nod32krn.exe
nod32kui.exe
lsass.exe
services.exe
csrss.exe
winlogon.exe
taskmgr.exe
smss.exe
explorer.exe
system
system idle process

so basically besides nod32 antivirus i am only running the the critical windows processes plus the few i need for my internet connection, i will try to run the game with nod32 shutdown and see if that helps, i really couldn't see it affecting anything though, also under windows startup and recovery settings i have the restart option disabled so it shouldn't shutdown on major system errors, i've never had my computer shutdown during a game before, reboot yes, shutdown no, its very weird

thx for the inconvenience
only nod32 is something "none standard" but shouldn't cause such problems. but give it a try to disable it with the service manager:
start -> run -> "services /s" ENTER

I have the same problem, yesterday i downloaded the game (french demo) and the game brutally closes. I remeber that the game crashed twice when i moved through the map with my mouse...

I got the same strange things going on.. Random, playing after a while it just drops back
to the desktop without a message or anything.. No clue what it could be, memory leak or video adressing, as it seems to occur after playing some time. I do notice that some things get a bit slower after a while. Not really slow, but noticable. I tried it with and without my firewall & virusscanner running, but still the same. Nasty bug to find.. if you find it, beer is free at my castle.

My specs.:

2 x 512 MB PC3200 Samsung
P4P800 Deluxe 1017 bios
ATI Sapphire 9600 128MB
Soundblaster live 5.1
and a nice wallpaper of KOH
Full English version of KOH running on XP pro without SP2 (waiting for SP3 :nono: )

plz send in a save game, if there it is straight after loading a save game

The Black Knight

I have no problems after loading a game really, it happens after maybe playing an hour or longer. I didn't saw it pop back to the desktop right after loading a savegame. I do use the
speed key allot, and i get the impression that it happens allot during battles and speeding them up to 8x.
