Hello :)
We are some French player has to have the game which closes brutally during the conquete of Europe.
We return to the desk, without any error messages. ;(
Some player noted an improvement by cutting the music.
These bug exist for the other versions ? (english , german ?)
Have already heard you about it?
Thank you for your answer.
I have the french version. I had something similar happen. However, I was able to get the game back as it was simply iconified (but there is nothing on the taskbar).
On WinXP, what you do is to start the "Gestonnaire des tâches" (Ctrl-Alt-Supp) and in the first screen "applications" you click on KOH and then on "Basculer vers". If KOH doesn't show then it is not the same thing that happens to me.
Good luck!

If KOH doesn't show then it is not the same thing that happens to me.
Regrettably no
On 20 guys who I know possessing french KOH, 15 have the same probleme.
The game close definitively with no error message .
It occurs only in single player (conquete of Europe.).
It’s very boring to have to play by press everytime “ F2” for save …
Now we understand that bug can exist on a new game
But a small answer saying to us that the problem is taken for a future patch would be welcome
Question in the English version.. have you the same problem?
I had it with the english demo too, yesterday.... very weird and not so well trapped by the programmers ;)
Debug.debug.debug is the key guys ;)

the game is stopping suddenly without error message
I had exactly the same problem in the English demo, French demo and in the begin of the full verion of the game. It works better now but I have heared a lot of people who have the same problem with different PC config. it would be great if you could make a fix for this bug...

On posts opened on the French forums us notice :
sumary:
The bug takes place only in single to pay conquest of Europe.
The game close and we meet ourselves on the office(desk) Windows.
No error message, it is immediate (koh.exe is close)
We tried by cutting the sound, by stopping) our internet connection.
All the players (I (too) one discovered this bug after one dozen hour of game, before no problem.
The bug is unpredictable, when we resume protections by redoing the same actions the game not crash (thus none link with an action in particular)
Sorry we do not possess of the other one elements.
One things many of us work in the data processing, our computers possess all a configuration has in the daytime and indeed on different.
Uhm Phenix, believe me we are VERY much keen to help for solving this. But to be able to do it we need EXACT actions which are leading to the problem. You can do this:
1) Save your game often
2) If it crash - load game
3) Try to repeat same actions
4) See if it will crash again at the same place
5) If it does - BINGO! Send save game with instructions how to repeat the crash to me. (Send me PM so I can explain where to send save game)

yes i know :) :hello:
The problem it s …I have already tried to make it redoing exactly the same action and the game did not crash ..
We can use the protections(save game ) without problem
I go tested with my current game, I saved just before of crash yesterday evening, and I have stop to play after.
I am going to look with your instruction :)

Got the problem several times. All the time it happens after the game runs for quite some time. Happend both in multiplayer and single campaning. The crash can happen at any game mode and feels like termination of the main game thread.
No particular user activity or unactivity was linked to the crash.
No 3d party software activity (antivirus scans, firewalls, auto updates systems) or system resource problems were not noted. Definetely no swap or memory strains were observed. Right after the crash system is perfectly fine a lot of memory and cpu resources, no extencive memory unload after the crash. Just before the crash nothing can point to the crash - game runs smothly, no sound or graphics problems whats so ever, cursor never slows down or freezes, hard drive doesn't hastle. So most likely the problem is not about getting new system resources or any limitation of that kind.
Most likely crash is a runtime problem which is not linked to any game state but time the game runs. Whats why people report a succesful safes before the crash, then they can start from the safe and go through without a crash. Also as far as I understand noone can repeat the definite actions that lead to the crash - you need time not actions. Or sertain action can lead to the crash but only after some time.
I would suggest a loss of pointers to some data which leads to some exception that you handle in the code but dont rise any error message. Really feels like you terminate the thread after some problem with loaded data happens.

Also had the crash with the English demo.
Was after having it run for a few hours. Had to keep it running since you can't save (bwt bad decision imo :) )
Wonder or it might be a memory leak or so. The computer where I had the crash on only had 128 mb while on my 1 gig comp I didn’t have the problem. Didn’t get to play it enough to see or its consistent though.
Anyway picked up the full game today and will keep an eye on it!

It finally happened to me. It's not caused by the amount of time you play since this one happened about an hour into the game when I've had other games last three hours. (Demo...no save...so have to have marathon playtime.)
It's not casued by the programmes you run since I had the same set up each time.
Frujin had the best advice. Save game often. When it crashes, reload and see if it will crash again. Until a bug can be isolated, it's a tough one to find.

could the French players provide a few things.
What type of CD drive you are using.. DVDRW, CDRW, DVD-ROM, CD-ROM.
What version of DirectX are you running? (you can find out by going to run and running dxdiag... or system information)
Processor, sound card.. would also be nice.
total amount of physical memory. I've had the demo running for 4+ hours on a P2 400mhz with 512mb of ram and no problems at all.
Also...If you could provide the connection your cd drive uses and what type of ram.. IE DDR, DDR2, sdram...
Also.. how long have you had windows running on the computer since you last reformated with a fresh install of windows?
It happened to me last night for the first time. I was too frustrated and it was too late to load again, but I will try to do it today and see if it happens again. (French version)
What was I doing? It is hard to tell you, it didn't seem like anyting precise did it. What I can tell you is that I had some 30 provinces with buildings going on in about 20, also 3 provinces were being taken over, 6 armies were fighting here and there, I was waiting for a university to complete which would give me the ilustrated books which was the last thing I needed for a minor victory. I had already been elected Emperor but I had gracefully declined in order to kick some serious butt. So what did it? ... hard to tell, you'll agree.

french version here too and same probleme (3/4 time in hundred hours of game). I think there is too many different configuration where the problem appear so it may be a software pb.
put you configuration if you got the same pb:
win 2kpro (fresh install) 512ddr geforce 64mo amd 2ghz, motherboard nforce chipset, dx 9c, last driver/sp/windows update
running :norton av,ghost,firewall, msn
defrag 1time/week
for french user : check you "observateur d'evenement" after a crash. Mybe windows will report the error.
exept that the game is good, great job (use autosave it s better than put f2 each 15 mn :) )

Try disabling Norton AV.
As well as MSN.
Not sure what Ghost is... could you explain?
Are you using the onboard sound card?
