View Full Version : [SUNFLOWERS] "daemon.dll"

SUNFLOWERS statement:
By starting Knights of Honor the copy protection checks for CD-emulation-programs such as "Daemon-Tools".
Due to a bug in the checker-routine the file "daemon.dll" is renamed to "daemon.bak", if it has been locked by the user, which it is not by default.
This is a known issue and will be fixed in the upcoming patch. To have "Daemon-Tools" working again, the file "daemon.bak" has to be renamed back to "daemon.dll", which is located on the harddrive in the main directory of Windows (e.g. C:\Windows).

via commandline:
copy %windir%\daemon.bak %windir%\daemon.dll
Gee, I will send a link here from the other topic.
I'm glad it has been sortet out

So, who will create upcoming patch? Sunflowers or Daemons creators?
Strange... im sure one of the staff members here said it didnt affect Deamon Tools

It will be included in the upcoming Knights of Honor patch
This is strange...I havnt noticed anything of my deamon.dll being renamed to .bak or deleted or anything. I even had Deamon tools running during setup and startup! strange... is this because of the version? I have got the english version.

this might only occur, if you try to look the daemon tools during starting KoH
Oh dear oh dear ... sunflowers are being called liers all over the place webmaster not good :p
...
As a programmer myself, I can vouch that it is impossible for a file to just 'mistakenly' get renamed.
They shouldn't even be poking at that DLL in the first place.
To rename a file in C++, (and other languages) you speicifically have to do it. There is no command that might 'accidentaly' rename a file to .bak. This is easily provable in court, too.
..
bug that renames a file. ROFL. Please who are they trying to fool. You can't have a bug that accidently renames a file. I wish one of these days these pathetic copy protection schemes would be taken to court over what they do to a user's system without their knowledge or approval.
..
That's one hell of a convenient bug for Sunflower corp...
And is that the best story they could come up with after more than a day?! Shows how 'creative' they are
..
Hum... a bug that renames files... LOL??
Sr. at Sunflowers, do you think we're idiots?? ¬¬'
..
A bug. Uh huh. You'd think they could try to salvage some respect by owning up to things, but no...

Blooduk: I think you're quite rude here.
The copy protection was not programmed by BSS or any other Sunflowers-related studio. They bought the copy-protection from another company, so it's not Sunflowers' fault.
Anyway, the error only occurs when you try to run KoH while having the Deamon Tools locked though the user was told to unlock the Deamon Tools.
On my PC I can run the Deamon Tools fine parallel to KoH. I just read the advice carefully.
So would you please stop being rude? You would do us a great favor. Thanks.

sure, no file is remaned by accident, so you are right !!!
but a bug musn't be a wrong function, maybe it was some kind of test routine and wasn't deactivated for the release version. i simply don't know it ;(
but its buggy and will be patched, thats the only thing which really matters and to annouce this, or isn't it?
we lincensed the copy protection. nor SF or BSS is involved in the copy protection mechanism programming. so actually we are depending to things we were told.
bugs are never nice, espacially concerning faulty copy protection systems.
but blooduk how would you react if some of your software makes mistakes ... ?

Blooduk if you don't have anything constructive to say then STFU! I am fed up with little brats who know only to patronize and offend others.
You, blooduk, should have known that nor BSS nor SF are involved in the copy-protection thing, because you started all this and weve seen your face the most in the deamon.dll related threads. Do you just want to show off that you know a lot about programming? :P
