You may also try the Windows Compatibility mode for Win98. Sunflowers recommends to switch it off for playing Anno1602, but I know that LegolasD from the old board solved his problems this way. Maybe it helps you too...
1 GB RAM? - Wow, that's a lot. I suppose you also have a good graphic card... Maybe it is still too fast for the game? If you have AntiAliasing and Aninsotrophe Filtering on, you may try to switch it off (and try anything else which makes the card slower), maybe that helps... :scratch:
