I have been a member of this fine forum for a few months now and it seemes to me that when it comes to nations members get all fired up and start a little war ! This must end ! This is a forum about KoH and the nations included are already chosen !!!
If you ask me there should be no threads or posts about nations from now on ! There are plenty of questions (not involving nations) who are just waitng to get answered ( about KoH) !

And remember - nations are already chosen - so why bother !

Hmm, well, but in the danish case, isn't it so that this is still the same ruling house for all those years, thus making Denmark the oldest intact monarchy.

Eh, but I guess that wasn't part of this discussion really. I think theese historical discussions are really interesting, but we should try to keep it factual. Sure, nationalism is nice, but you have to keep it sensible in an international forum. If you have been taught otherwise than someone else, say so, but please do it in a humble way.

The only feuds on such basis have been started by Bulgarians....I don't mean to pin point, but perhaps some of them should cool off and look at the facts.

Well, it doesn't really help if you use the same tone back.

And lets now all remember this little fact, and it's probably the only real historical fact:

THE WINNER WRITES THE HISTORY

So, how do we define the winner? Well, if you haven't lost completely, you have atleast won somewhat. Since both Serbia and Bulgaria exists your nations has had the opportunity to write their own histories. My point is that each nation exaggerates it's own deeds.

One example, the danish king who in Sweden is called "Christian the evil" is called "Christian the beneficient" in Denmark, I believe. Henrik?

I couldn't agree with you more.

Translation from a picture text in Herman Lindqvist's Historien om Sverige: Gustav Vasa och hans söner och döttrar (1993) (The History of Sweden: Gustav Vasa and his sons and daughters):

Kristian II, crowned Swedish King and regent 1520 - 21. A typical renessaince lord, educated and with personal charm, wed to the emperors sister. After Stockholm's bloodbath he was called Tyrann (tyrant) in Sweden but Bondekär in Denmark where he made many popular reforms. [...]

The ”short” story about the bloodbath in Stockholm in 1520

King Christian the 2nd of Denmark and Norway leads a large army in an attack on Sweden in 1520. At the battle on the frozen lake aasunden ( Åsunden ) Sten Sture – the younger ( Sten Sture lead an uprising against the Kalmar union ) gets mortally wounded and after the battle in Upland against the Swedish peasant army, the Swedish capital of Stockholm was besiege. Sten Sture’s widow was persuaded to surrender the caste Stockholm borg and in return she was promised amnesty for the Swedes. On the 4th of November King Christian the 2nd was acclaimed as hereditary king of Sweden at a meeting in the parliament at Brunkeberg. During the following days there was held a celebration at Stockholm castle to celebrate this infringement of old Swedish right. On the 4th day of celebration King Christian the 2nd ordered the gates to be closed and then he imprisoned a large portion of the attending bishops and nobles, which had come in the trust of the promised amnesty. With archbishop Gustav Trolle as the prosecutor he charge them all of heresy and around 90 of the prosecuted were found guilty and sentenced to death. The following day they started to execute the prisoners at Stortorget in Stockholm ( the city’s square ) under display of much brutality. The corpses were later burned on a pyre outside the city gate.

I’m sorry for the misspellings and the wrong use of words, but I hope that you all enjoy this story anyway :)

Yeah, but those were mostly commoners right? We're talking Swedish NOBILITY here. ;) And since our countries were/are so small in population compared to "down there", it will have a much bigger impact. Heck, if someone dies in a skiing accident here, it's on the front page.

Well actualy in the Golden Ages of Bulgaria (9-10 century) an army of 14 000 was considered small-often battles were fought by 30-40 and even up to 60 thousand bulgarians ! But that particuular army cought us with our pants down:D (every nation has its up and downs). But as you can see we are still here and now we can reclaim our dignity and honor but virtualy :D .

P.S.-and so can any other European nation (still virtualy - don't get any ideas ;) )

Is this a contest? To be honest, to me it dosn't really matter what happend... these things are past. The historie of these counties are equaly bloody...
So, what about you guys, talk about the game and stuff like that. If you still can't agree, settle it in a duel or something.

Its OK to argue about national stuff because such discussions make the forums interesting sometimes. However, I think the place of this thread is for the "royal inn".

Darius

In a way your right... but still.... arguing about which country that has the most bloody.
I'm just not able to see the point there

Hey! During one winter in the 17:th century one third of the population in Finland died from the cold and starvation. Ha! Beat that!

Nah, it's not a contest. I was just pointing out how things that are considered small on the continent often are big events if they happen here.
