View Full Version : installation anno 1602 fails on win98
i've bought the original cd-rom, but when i want to install the game i getr the massage (half-way the installation): 'search for file 24256432'. When i give the order to search on the cd-rom, than i get the answer 'can't find the file'.
What's wrong, can someone give me a hint or tip?
thanks

That file might have been deleted somehow.. CD's can be erased... if played to much the cd's layer that has the info can get messed up or it may be scratched at that file and it willl never find it that way...

Welcome to the board, patvdm. :halloha:
The file you mention does not exist - at least I do not know it.
Which version of Anno do you have? And did you try to delete the already installed files and reinstall the game? It might also help to clean up the hard disc and to defragment it before installing the game.
If you have an older PC, please check the hardware requirements for Anno.
it's a brand new cd
setup was aborted
no files are installed on the hard drive
the version is: gold edition
i tried to install four times, every time it was the same

I think you should try to get a new CD from the store you bought the one you have now - it seems it is broken...
You may also try to create a virtual CD from your original CD and run the installation from there.
