Hi

I wonder whether or not others inhere are recieving virusses all the time at the moment ? - personally i'm recieving the Netsky.B or some of its variants, but mostly it's the B-variant, around 3 - 6 times a day  - i have NEVER recieved that many virusses before.

What about the rest of you ? - are you also experiencing this or is it just me ;)

Sorry but by e-mail I do not recive virus since time ago, instead I'm having some invasive adware by iexplore. And by another way without the patch "Microsoft XP Hotfix-KB823980" my connection shuts down.

Are you getting it by E-mail? You should get a new e-mail. I have hotmail and haven't received viruses at all and i been wit hit for like 7 years.

If you can't get rid of it you may need to reformat you computer. Then do all the updates.

My advice:
Change the email-address for 2 weeks.
And open up a new free email-account.
Use the free "spam-account" for forum-registrations etc. The spam will now gather in your spam-account (yes, I used my spam-account for the KoH-forums).
And then hope that relatives etc. don't save your email-address in their Outlook-Express-Address-Book. because if they do any virus infecting them will be send to you (in most cases) and sometime your 'private' email-address is added to various spam-lists.

The sense of this:
If you enter the seach-term "@" into some search-engines (google isn't one of them, they help in preventing spam) you are presented the email-addresses of thousands of dumb people who reveal their email-address to everyone who wants to send spam to them.
But in most cases you are automatically removed from spam-lists when your email-address is unreachable (ie has changed). After some time you should then be able to change back to your old email-address and the amount of spam should have lowered by aprox. 50%.
(If you stick with the changed email-address and keep it's name private you should be free from spam for ever.)

I have the same problem since a few months, with my private email address. I got a junk address where I receive most of my spam/virus. But it seems something somehow discovered my good email address. I now receive 1-3 spams per day, on this address. Fortunatly, they are very easy to spot since their header is usually in english and my true emails are usually in french.

I don't receive spam or viruses, but somebody tried the "social engineering" trick and the "Nigerian scam" on me! Do they think I'm that stupid?

I exactly agree with vandeor. I've got two e-mail addresses. One is for internet registrations, e.g. this discussion board, the other one is for important mails, family, and close friends.

On the first address I receive about 30 (!) junk mails a day offering me penis or breast (!) :D enlargements...
The second one seemed to be safe until some weeks ago. Now I get about one to two junk mails a day having dirty attachements.

I also had a stupid trojan, msbb.exe, recently. I deleted it but after rebooting the computer it always reappeared  I got ridd of it using ad-aware, SpyBot and AntiVir, but it took me ages

It seems it's getting worse day by day. Hopefully, politicians are going to stop that soon, passing new laws...:)

I'm agree with you. Two adresses is the better solution. I got also one private for familiar or shoping issues and another for internet events that it's in yahoo coul be also in hotmail or whaterver free server.

Btw someone knows something about invasive spam adware?
My PC has something that every time I open iexplorer and in a period of time while iexplorer it's active changes my startting url to "about:blank" (this s*** directs me to "webforhumans.com" a kind of financial services  ), and also adds desktop icons and favorite icons (performing fake searches in "http://cc.aboutclicker.com" that not exist).

Examples:
http://about-blank.biz/Health+Insurance.html
http://cc.aboutclicker.com/search.php?q=Fast+Loans&aff_id=10

This s*** do not produces damage but it's a heavy crap.

Edit:
It's something added to the iexplorer but i'm not sure.
Deleting some in the the registry (regedit.exe). Still not sure if it's effective. Is not
Must be a program but I don't know were.

This sounds wierd  - maybe you should see if you can find some kind of a scanner program maybe it's able to find the problem.

I have thought of getting a program which can sorta cloak my emailadress - coz, i think that ( as i have stated before )i'm a victim af script on various websites which sorta snatch my emailadress.

I know these programs excist

You might have spyware in your cookies. A good spysweep program would eliminate those, also check to see what the privacy level on your iexplorer is set at. (tools, internet options, privacy)

I found it. It were 2 IRC trojan called "svshost.exe" and "svchosts.exe"
Don't confuse with "svchost.exe".

@Haegemon The easiest way was to use another browser. The Mozilla Firefox e.g. has particularly high security standards. Unfortunately, I couldn't find out how to install plug-ins such as Flash or Shockwave.
That's why I use IE again...:( But right now, my system is clean :)

Macromedia has their Flash-Plugins online.
Linux-Firefox goes with the Netscape-Plugin, so surely it's windows-version will do so too.

pff, you guys are not nice with albanians. But beware, from a north american point of view, abanian, bulgarian, roumanian etc. are about the same(low tech, Lada cars, corruption...). So you are hurting the reputation of your own country too :)
