Alright guys if this doesn't work for you all then I don't know what will cause it worked for me.

Step 1. open c:\WINDOWS (if it's your first time in there it'll give you a warning (ignore it and continue))
Step 2. Look for the folder named "$NtUninstallKB917422$" (you must have hidden folders and files shown to see this folder)
Step 3. Open the folder and proceed into the folder "spuninst"
Step 4. Open spuninst.exe and complete the uninstallation process

It will tell you that programs might not work after uninstalling, don't worry about that and just continue. I hope this works for you guys, this post is the first thing I did after the game worked.

Also make sure your auto-updates isn't automatically downloading and installing updates because it'll just reinstall the update and render KoH useless again. Good luck! :D

I don't think Microsoft has a fix for this yet. I am updated with all the latest patches and still I can't play the game!! :(

This is really frustrating as I enjoyed this game quite a bit.
