In general, if you edit .BMP files that are used in KoH you need to rotate the file (after editing) for 180 degrees and then flip it horizontally.

That's really great! It works, thank you. :hello:
But just another question not necessary to be asked but nevertheless asked by me: Did anybody find out more about adding new realms to the europe map without producing a crash...

any news from anyone?

anyone tries to do anything with the editor?
it seems it is too buggy to work, or?

It works. The original KoH-map was created with it.
It just doesn't place castles by itself and we propably have to do it via notepad, but I have no clue how to do that.

huh?

I was able to place castles, no problem, just crashed when trying to save it.
it's generally really easy to use, i'll se if i can pull something together as an example map.

you CAN place castles, it's easy.

How? For me the editor always crashes when I place a castle.
For confirmation: I'm speaking about province centers in world-view maps.

you just place them, setting the level of a castle is done by outside text editing but placing them is a peice of cake. then you can edit the province borders and assign castles the kingdoms you define.

yes im talking about the same thing.

When I place any province the game simply crashes. No missing files or anything like that.
Did you modify anything? I'd like to know how to place provinces.

Then your problem is probobly just the stability of the editor, Do you have the game's guts all over the place like i do? i was thinking wether it might be some acessability thing...

anyhoo, i'm really hoping the aledged patch will solve the stability issues in the editor, that will pobobly fix you problem, my problem is that i can't seem to save a world map once its done, not to mention testing.

Keep trying, didnt work for me the first 2 attempts.

Yes, all files that the editor accesses and that exist in the *.pak files are extracted. Can't be that problem.

For your saving problems: I fixed saving by watching the output of Filemon (http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Filemon.html) which informed me about the files that the editor accesses. I had to move some folder structures and create new folders to make saving possible. After that it worked nicely. :go:

nice taros,

can you also create units?
instead of buildings?
that would be great for elvain's unit pack

hehe sure as soon as i figure out what's diferent between our versions  Alright. Before I only had the files extracted I saw as necessary (i.e. KoH tried to access them). Now I extracted everything, even voice-files etc.
Still no avail.

How it goes wrong:
Start KoH in debugmode, access editor, create world-map, click "Realms", "Create Realm", select a province size (any), click somewhere on the map, KoH shuts off without an error message.
(It closes all files neatly.)

Any hints?

[Edit]
I reversed back to KoH version 1.02 (without patch) and now I can place provinces. Yay!

I'm still confused on how to save, I watched Filemon and I don't understand what to remove and what to place and where to go? Any help?

Hm, the editor was never meant to be published and made accessible. So, it was more like internal tool. There are a lot of weird key combinations used for this and that. I know it can be irritating a lot.

Well, I will try asking our programmers to create some kind of sumarry (or FAQ, or How-To) document for what steps are needed for succesfuly creating a map. To be honest, I do not know how long it might take, so ... please do not expect it tomorrow. :(

As far as I remeber, new realm is created automatically when you place a castle on the world-type map. So, you can start editing the realm borders with that special brush.

Also, the game will not work if there are even a single "tile" that is not included in at least one of the realms. There only pieces that are allowed to be realm-less are those water type.

I will try to dig more into it ..

We pretty much worked it all out alone. My only problem was that placing realms is broken with 1.03. It works fine with 1.02 however. :go:
