Why expansion will not work ?!
this isn't a problem for them.
As St-Craft said, this is a very new kind of service so yes, I wouldnīt be surprised if they didnīt use it in the past, however I think it might be a little too bold to say that they just wonīt use it in the future.
You make a very good point that D2D is a very new technology,
but I will say all their games from the past are still on the market today and none of them have even recently been made available on services such as D2D.

I wouldn't suggest getting it from D2D. Most modifications, and expansions won't work with it if you do. If you don't plan on getting any mods or expansions then it might be a good idea but otherwise...
I think d2d is an awesome service Ive purchased several games from them, from my expirence the patchs are pretty timly and expansions have worked just fine.
I bought civ4 from them and the expansions. railroads oblivian and a few others, if the patch doesnt work directly from the developer (it usually does) you can get a patched patch from d2d usually within a day or so.
I love not needing to go find the cd when i want to play a game, (it checks your download the first time you run it and then authenticates your computer) .
When I got a new computer there was no going to look for all my games, I simply hit d2d and downloaded them (fast!)
In the world of itunes I'm surprised at the skeptics here.
I much prefer d2d then having to call 10 stores to find a copy then drive over in traffic, wait for 30 minutes while some guy finds it, then drive home and load a bunch of cd's or dvds.
The draw back is you never know for sure what games they will have for download, pretty much fraxis games are I'm hoping over developers see the light and jump on the band wagon.

i live in canada, hopefully will be able to get copy from local ebgames store on tuesday the 31st. have to make do with demo until then but would rather not have to wait. d2d immediate and would have thought less cost for sunflowers/asypr as no physical packaging/inventory/shipping involved. firaxis latest game - railroads is on d2d. d2d is the future for delivery and accessable by all.
Does anyone know how can I contact D2D to suggest them a game?
I have been looking around the whole site and I can not find anything similar :(.
Thanks.
pd. And about the "free trade zone"... me and all my friends continue to wonder about what can that mean, since EVERYTHING continues to be expensive, obsolete and lacking support here :(. At least we have tacos :D, hehehe. ;)

OK, it's October the 30.! Where is it? I have asked today in a Gamestop store and they replied that "It's sold out!". What does this mean? Is here anybody who already plays the game?

Sold out means that they don't sell it anymore. Even I though I am Dutch can understand that.

I called a few places. They started shipping today. The stores in my area expect the game to be in on Wednesday or Thursday.

Yeah I am really able to understand this. Thank you very much for this helpful reply. The real problem is I am not sure whether it is actually released so far since there are different dates.
"Sold out" can also mean a technical thing and therefore also not yet released games could be "branded" as "sold out".
@mamayourpeoplearehungry
Thank you very much. That's the answer I expected.

I had pre-ordered mine from gamestop over the weekend, I sure hope its being shipped out today, this is my first Anno game, really enjoyed the demo.
I'm going to check my local EB right now. I'm in Los Angeles.
I checked on my order just now and it is still showing Unshipped Items: and list my order but it also has the status as Pre-release Ships 10/30/06.
I guess they could still get it shipped today.
If it takes a couple of days, that will be okay, I got a new toy via UPS today! Age of Empires III, I finally found it for under $30.00. I can stay busy with it until 1701 gets here!
Well I went into EB and they told me it was shipping today, in stores tomorrow. Gotta wait one more day.

My pre-release order from EB is still showing unshipped also... right over the red message that pre-release orders are shipped on Oct 30.
AoE III... one of the great disappointing games recently released. What gives with these 'former' great game designers? Sid Meier, Brian Reynolds, etc., are producing really sad versions of formerly great games. Just an update of graphics and a downgrade of quality.
I bought Sid Meier's Railroad and it runs at 4-6 FPS where Anno 1701 runs at 64.
Sounds like you have a problem. Railroads runs at 60FPS for me, but the Anno demo runs at 25FPS. Although I agree, Railroads is a huge disappointment for a Sid game.
anyone get their copy shipped yet ? ;p

Mine is still showing unshipped!
I sent an email last night requesting information on when it would be shipped, but have no response as of yet.

With expansions I mean if you bought the regular game from them and the expansion from a store it wouldn't work. The patches for Civ4 havn't come out a day after the regular relese. And personally I don't go out searching for the game the day it comes out, if I don't get it for a couple of weeks I really don't mind.
