I seem to remember there was some kind of rule to choosing the state, something like small states only, right? Which size is acceptable?

I am guessing no Papacy? :D

I think that at actual stage we can accept a state with up to 3, maybe even 4 provinces.

think about which one would you like to take and I'll send you screenshot with the kingdom

here (http://img333.imageshack.us/img333/3682/004002startaf5.jpg) is a picture of our 3 kingdoms after Armenian turn 4.

The king Levon II. of Armenia wasn't pleased by his financial situation.
To improve it, he finally managed to sign a trade agreement with mighty caliphate of Almohads in the western part of the Mediterranean region.and prince Hethum was sent to trade there instead of Venice.
That increased our income.

Then pleasing offer came from Ayyubids who offered large sum of gold for their marshall who was kept in Armenian prison. That enabled king Levon to start building activity as never before. With more money he felt his diplomatic situation to be better so he tried to arrange a wedding for his son with tiny kingdom of Aragon on the other side of the Sea.

Though he payed large sum of gold and offered them a trade agreement (which was accepted) Aragon didn't agree to the wedding

but the kingdom enjoyed the time of peace and prosperity yet. Hope that the holy places in Jerusalem and lands of Armenia will be secured under rule of armenian king started to rise again...

PS: In the rankings you can notice, that military power of the Teutonic order is now 3rd mightiest among all the kingdoms

PS: In the rankings you can notice, that military power of the Teutonic order is now 3rd mightiest among all the kingdoms :bowdown:I was making sure that my kingdom was defended well before I left. 3 full armies, and 5 provinces with nearly 6 squads each.
And from the looks of it the military ranking has successfully kept the other AI kings from declaring war.
"Policy of determent"

Hmmm. I am thinking Latins, but I'll have to wait on that decision.

Elvain

I think that the Latins are fine.

3 provinces and 1 vasal. I think they are at war with Bulgaria (or were)

Magnumkiller

Yeah I know, Latins seem to be doing well, but its possible they won't be so hot by the time I return, so I just gotta be safe :P.

Latins isn't exactly near you. I would probably get borders with Elvain and then with Angryminer before even my traders reached you :P.

@Kevincompton: The save is here and will be sent to you this evening (GMT+1 time).
@Magnumkiller: The Teutonic Order won't harm a crusader state. Much. :dwink:

I'm glad Armenia is far from the Teutons.

My goal is to make those crusaders run into the sea as soon as possible (unless Magnumkiller joins us as the emperor of Latins - that way, Sultanate of Rum will be my main foe, except for the Ayyubids of course)

As far as I remember Latins were at war with at least Bulgaria and Hungary and I think also one more state, but I'm not very sure. Kevin, could you check it please?

I'll try and be sure to check. :)

So, back we are in the historic library of the Order.
Last time we asked ourselves how long the peace of the Order would last. Though the exact duration is unclear, one other thing is clear: It wasn't long.
We know from other sources that Muscowy was at war with the Golden Horde and, after it's armies were crumpled by the forces of the Horde, they ceded the province of Polotsk to the Chief of the Golden Horde. This provoked renewed determination in Grand Master Anselm and his quest against the pagans was fanned again. Thus war was declared upon the Horde.
Even though the inner conflict of the Order was still raging - it is estimated that less than half the population of the Order was christian to that time - the Order attacked with great force. Polotsk wasn't an important province, but still two armies were sent there. Knight Daniel and Graf Arnegisel of Lithuania lead a joint campaign in that province. From that we can conclude that Grandmaster Anselm still wasn't completely sure of Graf Arnegisel's capabilities after his withdrawal from Pomerania.
But as it seems Graf Arnegisel proved himself well. Wether true or not, the sources say that he defeated the local forces and took control over the province of Polotsk single-handedly, without the help of Knight Daniel. This was illustrated in this (http://img127.imageshack.us/my.php?image=polotskag6.jpg) historic picture, where we can see the symbolic army of Graf Arnegisel attacking while Knight Daniel's forces are not engaged in the fightings. We assume that the authors of the sources were impressed with the victory and that Graf Arnegisel was thus put into a better light than he really earned, because it is unpropable that two armies are near a battlefield, but only one actually fights.
The Order now controls territories from as far west as Pomerania and stretches east to the province of Polotsk. Additionally to the difficulties of managing such a stretched dominion there is also the religious conflict within the provinces that causes unrest, and of course the conflict with the Golden Horde, which has already crushed more than one nation's army.

* Yep, 7 provinces now. That makes the Order a major power within europe. It also is the 2nd biggest military power of europe.
The savegame was send a few minutes ago to kevincompton.

Jo...This sounds really interesting. I would be intrigued to try it if someone could explain to me how it works:go:. I would pick to be Serbia, or do we pick a kingdom with one province only?

Angryminer

Hello.
The round is closed as far as I know. We are 4 players now and we don't want to accept any more because we take turns playing. That means if there are 4 players we only play our own kingdom one fourth of the complete time. That's why 4 is the common limit for such play-by-eMail (pbem) games.
But stay tuned - once in a while players drop out and you may jump in to fill the vacant slot. :go:
In that case you'd have to choose a kingdom with equal or less than three provinces.
