View Full Version : Help me I want to find the "goods" [+ foreign languages discussion]
I did folowed the rules(look!) i expect him to do the same!
You still had not translated it when I made my post, Thank You!
And there is no rule stating that Bulgarian is the only language that can be used in the Bulgarian Clan thread! English is allowed in that thread as well! Do you wish to make a bigger issue of this and cause the Bulgarian Community to lose that thread? If not, I suggest you drop it here and now and cool your heels!

For the common(bulgarian)good i will lay down my arms and stop!
Though i don`t agree that such a small exception as a single post written in a different language ONLY to be able to better explain something to a fellow countryman is such a big crime!
ps:isn`t it strange how such a small things can provoque a dispute????

no crime, mate.
Your fellow contrymen asked you in English so you could answer in English (as we all do).
:peace:
Everything's cool patriot1! :go:

Just to explain, if we made exception once, it would set a precedence for it to happen again and again and again to the point it would become out of control with a wide variety of languages that we(Moderator's) would have no idea what was said, good, bad or otherwise.

Bulgarian thread is an exception and is tolerated in moderators' good will, eventhough none of regular mods speaks Bulgarian. The forum is English. This thread was started in English, there is no reason to use other language here
Then there's one very simple solution - make me a mod! No, really, I'm here since nearly the beginning of the forum, I check the KoH board nearly every day AND I can speak Bulgarian! Furthermore, I could then flag the thread "BG-marked" and ensure liberty of speech! Now, go and vote for Nike/Traveller with the white-green-red blank and the sign "Nike for European President!"
Btw, Elvain, I indeed recommend you to work on controlling your temper better! This is not the first time you "lose your nerves" here for something far from being THAT unnerving and it's not the first time you've shown slight signs of anti-bulgarianness. I don't know what's the reason for that and I don't really care, as long as such unneeded "quarrels" are evaded. And in this case it could've been easily evaded, if you didn't act so touchy about one single post on Bulgarian forwarded to a Bulgarian, thus ensuring that the recipient would understand the meaning of the answer at best. Not everybody speaks English well, you know. And if you're in the desert and see a desperate man asking for water, while you have, let's say, orange juice, would you not give him your orange juice or you'd say that he should receive only water and nothing else, and furthermore - water from this or that oasis? I really don't understand what all you moderators fuss about, but I would advise you to "cool out" a bit!
And, btw, could anyone provide me with one specific quote of "The Law", which says that the "English" board is "English ONLY" and "All intruders shall be punished"? Geez, this used to be a nice board once, today's modders used to be nice people too! Now it feels more like a prison... :nono:

§6: Language Selection
(1) The Forum is partly in English and partly in German. Please only post contributions in the appropriate language within a specific forum.
(2) As for forums without language separation, there is a simply differentiation system using country flags. Adding marks the topic as English, means German. If the thread is not marked with a flag, you can post in either language.
This section of the forum is flagged English and is a forum, within Knights of Honor section, titled English.
I believe that should cover it for you Traveller!
BTW-You don't want to be a Mod, by your own definition you would just become a cold cruel-hearted person!
eh, english..german.....by 10 years we all will speak Bulgarian
So who is ****** ? This is Slovakian name, isn't it ?

****** is:admin_censored: and as far as I know he's from Czech Republik not from Slovakia. As for the offtopic discussion in the thread: well I speak English quite good and have no problems with understanding everything in the forum, but I must agree with Nike that the forum is created so players can help each other and recieve support from Sunflowers, no matter of the language. So :peace: piss on you fellas! :silly:
So who is ****** ? This is Slovakian name, isn't it ? I personally do not use peoples real names in the public boards, (unless of course it is part of their nickname), nor do I reveal the identity of any nickname. It is ******'s place to tell you who he is, if he so wishes!
I would be interested in knowing why Traveller chose to use someone's real name.

We all use English here, I use it when I speak with Czechs who ask me in English or with Mirco. If someone can't ask in English he asks me via PM and I answer him via PM.
I think you're here long enough to know this "unwritten rule" as well as patriot01.
btw, he asked in English so there was no problem to reply in English
I would be interested in knowing why Traveller chose to use someone's real name.me either :bday:

Since the original request of this thread has been dealt with I guess the 'offtopic' discussion doesn't harm anyone. Thus I changed the thread title to fit the discussion.
Please excuse my use of the term 'foreign'. I didn't want to use "non-english" since this discussion is propably as much about german, english, french, bulgarian or russian in inappropriate threads.

Come on let's all speak English and be merry again.
I prefer English cuz it is the only foreign language I know ^_^

Thank you! Now, since the Bulgarian thread is in such an obvious violation, why don't we just move it to the Webmaster's Inn and flag it BG, as I've proposed before?
And, you realize that my "asking for promotion" was an obvious joke, right?
About the personal names - if I know somebody, I prefer to use his/her name over his/her nickname. For me, it's a sign of basic respect and friendship, as well as a more direct approach, somewhat like face-to-face. The personal name is much more real than the nickname and thus, at least for me, using a personal name is more "real" than using a nickname. And I would prefer if others would use from time to time my real name (Nikolay or Niki), which, however, is close enough to my nick (Nike) anyway...
And, ***********, even if the original post was on English, that doesn't necessarily mean it should ALL be on English. Using my previous example with the thirsty man in the desert and the orange juice - only because he asked for water doesn't mean you can't give him something better! And let's add another factor in this example - you meet the man asking for water, you have orange juice, but the laws of country, in which this desert is, forbid the use of orange juice. So, would you still not help someone in need, although you have the means to and despite of the rules, which don't seem very right anyway? I personally would...

My stance on the topic is that we should keep to the languages we can moderate. The reply that started the discussion could've contained all kinds of bad words and no moderator would've known. The bulgarian thread introduced when we still had Frujin actively contributing to the forum.
But secondly, and more importantly, the choice of language is about respecting other forum members. You might have noticed that I very often choose english in german/english-bilingual threads. I do so because I don't want to leave the non-german speaking members of the forum puzzled about my post. It's just not a situation I want to bring other users into. Even if I didn't speak to any english speaking member and even if the content is completely irrelevant to them, it's just not a nice thing to do.

That I gave you my "secret" doesn't mean I want all to know it. It is normal that we use our nicks not only to respect those we know "better" and more personaly (to respect their privacy), but also to respect those who don't know our personal names.
Sorry, Traveller, but you seem not to respect neither me nor the others who didn't know my name. I could also use names of other forum members I know, but I respect their privacy and expect it from them too. (I didn't want to start discussion on this topic as I thought we are mature enough to understand it withuot being told, but it was started, so I join with my opinion)
To the last coment of yours: as I said before. when I want to offer the "juice" to Czechs or Slovaks I meet here or on other forums I do it via PM because I respect all those who might not understand Czech and Slovak.
Though I don't like generalizations I may look like anti-bulgarian because Bulgarians here (not all!) seem to lack this kind of empathy/understanding and I constantly point it out?
