RTW Demo here

oh come on has anyone played this yet? and how did you do? i didn't want to know how to install it.

Anyone played as the Gauls yet?, its good fun trying to beat the romans with them. also you used the special ability for the phanlax type soldiers on trebia? i used it and you should see what happens to the horses when they run in to it, its a wall of spears, devistation or what.

Same qith the roman triari. But when i played as romans, i sent one group of triari to the barbarian cavalry in the bushes, they were slaughtered, and the rest of the triari to the sacred band cavalry. Those cavalry just slaughtered all of my 200 triari!!! Amazing! I dont know what it takes to beat them.

i just sent triai with princips or instead equites then i killed them all the rest was easy only the elephants had to take them down with my velites

Well, triari are the best against cavalry, so whats wrong with having that as first thought!

Hey, one of you ever noticed that the cartheginian spearmen dont have spears??? To see the spears and to see them using it and especially to see the phalanx ability, go to preferences.txt in your game folder. By default the path is: C:/Program Files/Activision/Rome - Total War Demo/prefences.txt.

In the text file, find the following line:
UNIT_USE_SHADERS: FALSE

change that to:
UNIT_USE_SHADERS:TRUE

I havnt noticed any side-effects so have fun :go:

I think the demo is a very poor representation of what they are promosing in the final game. No seiges, no town fights, no night fights, no seige weapons. seems strange they wouldnt add a seige battle in the demo to wet everyones appetite a little more.

yeah they wont even let us taste the diplomacy and politics in the senat

i think they should of given us 3 or 4 turns on the campaign screen, although this may have made the download of the demo very big, that could be a reason why they didnt do that, although at least they could of given us one seige battle.

I think it reflects R:TW rather good. Full scale battles and a tiny bit of world-conquering for the breaks.
It just isn't KoH.

I think KoH and R:TW both have there good points and bad points.

Rome total war is almost the same as KoH

you can become emperor or govern city's and let the generals do the fighting or u can let someone else govern and you do the fighting

so both games are great but i am dissapointed of their greedy demo

that must be the reason of all these mods
