OK...although I think it sounds like japanese ;)

Elvain

because it's transcripcion to latin (english) alphabet. English doesn't have signs like š, č, or so, which are in some variations in most of slavic languages

На ви още една секира. <--- Cyrillic version

@Moryarity, I'm not surprised you think it's Japanese. Both languages are very hard to learn, both cultures have some things in common (like music and such)... No wonder Japan is my favourite civ! But still languages are quite different. If you learn some Japanese, you'll see.

@Elvain, on what alphabet do you write in the Czech republic?

Elvain

latin alphabet, of course.
We were under influence of latin christianity at least since 845(first proven date). When in 863 archbishop of Slazburg was unable to do his duties in Moravia(Greater Moravia back in those times), duke asked Byzantine emperor for help and Cyrilic came into existence as alphabet for Moravians. But then Moravia and Bohemia both came back only to latin christianity (since 10th century) and Cyrilic was used by orthodox slavic peoples while "latin Slavs like Poles, Czechs and hungarian Slavs(Slovakians) used latin alphabet.
And in 15th century there was a reform of Jan Hus with new characters such as š,č,ž,ř,ů and ě instead of ss,cz,rz,uo and ie(Poles still use the old way)

Is it ok?

Yeah, thanks for the history lesson! But I still prefer Our alphabet... Btw how do you write those š,č,ž,ř,ů etc. on the PC?

Elvain

we have special "czech keyboard" with those signs under numbers ě is under 2, š under 3 etc.

Is not. :nono:
Slovaks are not hungarian slavs, because we were here before hungarian :hello: , So the hungarian people came from Asia after founding or Great Moravia.
Nitra (city in Slovakia) was very important city in Great Moravia and duke Pribina was very important person in Great Moravia till defeating of Duke Svatopluk.

you are right, of course. Just in middle ages there was no nation called Slovakains, you were caled hungarian Slavs...

I know about importance of Nitra and Pribina, of course, of course we (I'm half Slovak, half Czech) were there before Hungarians :go:

Partially right you are, but:
I never heard the term: Hungarian Slavs for Slovaks (Upper Hungaria maybe), because there were more slavian nations in Hungaria Kingdom in Middleage : slovaks, slovinien, croatians, serbians, macedonians, "bulgarians", polen, ukraians,...

And could I ask why are we in quotes? And btw there were no Macedonians in the Middle ages...

Hallo :hello:
I remember, I read somewhere, that bulgarians are not 100% slavian origin, but they are special. They have taken and adopt slavian. I'm not sure about it.

Aha. Yeah, you're right. We're more like the Magyars. We came from Asia (we moved from Ukraine actually), but we mixed with the locals (Slavs and what remained of the Thracians). Oh, and Croats are not pure Slavs, too. Ask Finelach if you see him! Actually there are no pure Slavs today anymore. Nor any pure race...

Hi
I did not write about pure nations, but about the origin (If you read correctly) :go: . I , myself, have some austrian blood in my veins :go: . I think the most "pure" are people or were in GB or in Swiss (in isolating locations), they were keeping certain imbreeding, what is not very clever, because of complication with recessive alleles in homozygots (I don't want to go deeper in genetic). So it bring them some deformation in outlook and demention in thinking and more sensitivities to diseases,
