Pagan is closest to atheists. :D
I think they are the furthest away from atheism. They have multiple Gods, so they are polytheism. Then the Catholics, Orthodoxes and Muslims are closest for they have only one god, monotheism.

It depends on the various pagans. Paganism is not just reserved for polytheists. There are Pagans who believed in nature as the mother of all things. Some believed in a great spirit or a divine energy that exists all around us. A religion similar to what some atheists believe too.
Atheism is not just not believing.

He means that the player has captured an enemy knight. That can happen when a besieged town surrenders and a knight was there as a governor.
You can ask the king of the captured knight for ransom or execute him. There are some other possible actions I think, but I don't know them.

What I guessed from the screenshot is that it isn't the player that has taken prisoners, but two of his knights were taken prisoner by other (computer-) players. Meaning: The player of "Italy" has six marshalls among his nine knights, two of which have been taken prisoner by some other nation. This is shown by the two imprisoned avatars in the Royal Court of Italy.
Maybe someone can clear that up?

I believe the imprisoned knights are the ones you imprisoned not your knights that imprisoned.

That's what Angryminer said, too. Still, I think different: If you have to take captured knights as hostages "to your court", that would mean that you can take only so many prisoners as you have free slots on your court - and that wouldn't make sense (IMHO). More: If your knight is taken prisoner, it would make sense to change his avatar, because you can't issue any orders to him (like: "Return to the Court!"), but he still is a member of your court and can't be replaced by a new knight.
But I'm just reasoning, the Developers will know!
Frank? Fruijn? We would like some information here...! :)
A little info would be quite handy ATM!

I found something in "The Royal Court" on the main page - it's about the spy, not the marshal, but it might clear that up:
Spies are knights who perform clandestine actions for you. They can infiltrate other Royal Courts and get hired for one of the six professions. Depending on the profession the other king gives the spy there are several espionage actions he can perform. But beware! You might also have hired a spy as a Knight. A spy can be captured and imprisoned. You can see this by the falling bars over his portrait. A spy not assigned to a mission automatically protects your Royal court.
So on that screenshot Italy had two (or more) spies and imprisoned them both.
Thanks Don Enrico!

Okay, debate is open again:
There are two new screenshots with "prisoner avatars" in fridays update. One is the kind we already know (this one (http://www.knights-of-honor.net//gfx/screenshots/scr_koh_0189.jpg)), and it obviously shows a foreign spy at the court of germany being imprisoned.
The other one (this one (http://www.knights-of-honor.net//gfx/screenshots/scr_koh_0191.jpg)) does show an imprisoned marshal - this time from the german court and, from what I understand, being imprisonedby some other player (probably taken in battle, since he's no spy).
I ask myself: would this imprisoned marshal appear at the enemys court as the sitting figure behind bars? Or is that picture only for imprisoned spys caught at an enemys court?
