i am a little enoyed with americans right now because in 1 of the othere threads it says:
btw a question mainly to the Bulgarians here - what do you think about the article in New York Times that Bulgaria and Ukraine have sent not good enough soldiers in Iraq?
I think that "ohh your troops arent good enough " is a very bad thing to say to a country that you ask 4 help and it helps you!!!:nono: :nono: :nono: thouse kinds of things make people hate america in my opinion
here is where it was said:

I'm in the middle of exams right now so i can't really take the time to say much...
For the question on American arms involved with the Iran-Iraq war:

To be honest, I don't think the war is so much about oil. I think it does have a lot to do with this "war on terrorism" and political spheres of influence and stability in the middle east. While this invasion is definitely not a shining example of stability, I think Bush's admin. expected that by instating a pro-west democracy, it would eventually lead to greater stability in the region.
I agree with Elewyn when he says democracy by force isn't the way to do it. I also agree when he said there are many states in the world that need more help then Iraq (unfortunately, most are in Africa)...
I also agree quite strongly with Bush being a villain in his own way. Granted, he isn't targeting racial groups for liquidation, but when he says stupid things like "either you're with us or against us", the narrow-mindedness of such a statement isn't too far removed from the propaganda that would land you in such a situation. Canadian business and political standing was hit hard when we decided not to go to war, I guess we were "against" Bush's little "war on terrorism", despite overstretching ourselves in rebuilding Afghanistan. I felt good as a Canadian when Chretien stood up to Bush and said "no". I would have prefered to see more "development" and general funding/interest (American mostly) in Afghanistan, as a show of American benevolence, then another war. Kabul suffers continously from far too little international funding and support. Bush had a chance to do something good with the mess he made there, but decided he had more important things to worry about.
Also, the military is not the only way to solve terrorism. There is a wonderful thing called education. I know it can take many generations, as Elewyn said, before education starts to make significant social impacts, but education nonetheless leads to discussion, and discussion to respect. It can be very costly but I think things operate better when they're founded on respect rather then blood and guns...
And Heretic, calling Havoc's opinion stupid is the type of typical Western standpoint I'd hope we as educated people can avoid here. Everyone deserves an opinion and respect whether you agree with them or not. Insulting, degrading, or ignoring someone's voice is not only a slap to the individual, but a slap to everyone involved in the discussion. (That was far from a nice response as well Havoc).
I spent to much time here...
