Well I guess it's time to go out and buy a Cray (http://www.cray.com/products/xt4/specifications.html)...:dwink:

I believe there are "issues" with GeForce cards and this game, as I said in post #3. I'm hoping for a performance fix because I don't think this is normal.

Maybe.. but which is the guilty one ? Nvidia (drivers) or Sunflowers (game) ? :biggrin:

Well I am awaiting the patch from Sunflowers. If they can't take an über card and use it to its full potential, then that's their problem.

It will be interesting to find someone playing Anno 1701 with Nvidia last videocard, 8800 series: just to see if "the problem" remains or not.

6800 = 30fps
7800 = 15fps
8800 = 7fps

Really ? :eek:

Strange...

No, I'm just guessing. :silly:

Yes maybe my low framerate is a little GPU related (well my CPU is Athlon64 3400, not so bad), but Sunflower MUST provide a patch fixing GeForce problems! Two friends of mine with same CPU but with cheaper GPU (X800 or 6600) have a better framerate! :sad:

Do you think that Sunflower is really working on it?

Same settings for the framerate ?

I heard from the German forum that they are working on it. There was a German thread concerning this very issue, and a dev dropped in and said that a patch is in the works. Few details though.

I do not speak german... :sad:

Hope they will release this patch sooner (25th of December, with gifts...:biggrin: ).

Hi,
the statements in the german board are the same like in the english one. There has been a patch announcement some days ago but there is no release date so far.

Cheers,
Nelson

It's good news, I just wanted to be sure that someone in Sunflower is working on this problem.. :wink:

Good thing will be to know where the problem is located .... :biggrin:

Compiler problem not optimized for 7XXX architecture ?

It must be Sunflowers, because my 6600GT, utilizing forceware version 9.71 (latest) runs fantastically well for games like Company of Heroes, which is very graphics intensive.

I just bought this game, and was dismayed to note that in the readme file, Sunflowers indicated possible conflicts with all sorts of different GeForce cards. What the heck did they beta test this game on? Isn't GeForce and NVIDIA popular in Europe?

:sad:

I use latest nvidia drivers (93.71) too and all my other games run perfectly. And GeForce cards are very popular in Europe too, it's weird they haven't tested with them (but the problem doesn't concern ALL GeForce cards).

BTW I don't see any GeForce conflicts warning in the README.txt (french version).

Hi,

Here is an extract from the English version. I suppose it's all in how you read it---they do say that these are supported chip sets, but in the preamble, they also advise of possible conflicts with the acceleration. It depends, I guess, if you want to consider the cup half full or half empty :wink:

Notice: Some 3D accelerator cards with the chipset listed here may not be compatible with the 3D acceleration features utilized by Anno 1701 A.D. Please refer to your hardware manufacturer for 100% DirectX compatibility.

SUPPORTED CHIPSETS:

• ATI Radeon 8500
• ATI Radeon 9000
• ATI Radeon 9200
• ATI Radeon 9250
• ATI Radeon 9500
• ATI Radeon 9550
• ATI Radeon 9600

• ATI Radeon X600
• ATI Radeon X700
• ATI Radeon X850
• ATI Radeon X1300
• ATI Radeon X1800

What I see is a list of cards it was tested on and known to work on, but that on some of the cards that are low end with very early shader technology the 3D acceleration may not work properly.

It must be hell living life with a half empty cup instead of a half full one! :eek:
