View Full Version : Performance issue with GeForce7800 (very low fps)
I'll try.
For me, i've got everything on "full", 1280*960*32.
Dual 8800GTS SLI on a 680i board. The game is giving me problems, so it probably is that high end cards and/or cards not on the list are having problems.
I don't have problems with FPS though from what I can see (don't know how to do the FPS tests at this point, so don't have that information), what happens to me is that the game just kind of farts out and I get an hourglass. It goes away, but happens every few minutes while stationary or if I move too much (minimap jumping really kills it and the hourglass stays up for awhile.) Doesn't last too long, but due to the frequency it happens to me, really is kind of game breaking.
Why won't they say in English if they are going to address this problem or NOT!? What is wrong with them? Some simple communication at this point would go far...

What is wrong? Nothing is wrong with them!
They have already learned what happens in the community if they talk about what they are doing. Too many read those words as a promise.
So now they won't say anything if they are not 100% sure to have an answer.
Betty told us Germans that they know about our problems and they are looking for it - nothing more.
A key point to my post: *in English*.
Maybe French, as I can read that OK... but German? That is as good as silence to me.
Just because developers are german...
Wait, i'm sure informations will come by a way or another.

And you missed the whole point of LadyH's post! They are not posting the information you desire in the German section either! The only thing that has been said anywhere is that they know about the problems and are looking at it, and that has been said in both the German and the English forums.
Perhaps there is just a bit of distrust that the technical staff has a complete and exhaustive inventory of all the problems. The traditional "trust us, we are working on it" has come into some disrepute everywhere.
There is a free-floating distrust. Some of it can't be fixed. Some of it can be fixed, but not with a smack down.
 :go:
And that is just the reason they will not say they are working on it or say what they are working on. In the past when they said they were working on something, a lot of people took that to mean it was going to happen and when it didn't happen, people got upset because they didn't get something they thought was promised to them.

But let's hope they fix it :P Because it's a fun game and I'd like to continue playing it, heh.
IT in itself presents a problem, because everybody defines IT in a different manner!
But let's hope they fix it ...
I would like to say
let's pray that they find out what causes the problem(s), so that they are able to fix it http://www.cosgan.de/images/midi/verschiedene/n120.gif
IT means information technology........doesn't It?:silly:eace

Dobber, get off my back. For a moderator you truly are inflammatory. Thanks for telling me I missed someone else's ENTIRE POINT... as if you know what Imissed or did not miss in the first place!? She wrote:
"Betty told us Germans that they know about our problems and they are looking for it - nothing more."
So... I didn't miss her entire point.
Now please, leave me alone- you have done nothing helpful regarding this that I can see on the board. I do not appreciate your attacks.
Thank you.

You asked:

It appeared, you locked in on one part of her post, and it still appears that is so, because you quoted that part above. That part of her post was not even the answer to your question, it was only letting you know that they knew there were problems and they were looking into it. Something that I might add had been stated in the English forum as well as the German.
The part of LadyH's post that is the answer to your question(in bold in the following quote) was the main point of her post,
Why won't they say in English if they are going to address this problem or NOT!? What is wrong with them? Some simple communication at this point would go far...

LadyH's answer to your question addressed the fact that they were not saying "anything"(German or English) on whether the issue would be addressed or not.
And it appeared you had missed that point when you posted the following post
A key point to my post: *in English*.

Which along with your post prior to that one(both quoted in my post) brought my response

When you mentioned, "A key point to my post: *in English*.", it gave indication that you had missed LadyH's main point in her statement, and that was, that they were not giving "any" information as to if they were going to address the problem or not! I was just calling your attention to that point. How was that inflammatory?
I didn't think Dobber's remarks were inflammatroy at all...
But update on my problem that I've mentioned here. It appears that there's a problem with 680i motherboards reguarding SATA, so apparently it wasn't my 8800's and it was my motherboard not communicating with the DVD drive well (affects HD's as well, but I still have IDE HDs.)
Update: Bah, it appears to have not completely fixed it. Seems to have both lessened and shortened the irritating loading problems, but not completely fixed them. So I'm guessing there's still issues with the 8800's. I think it's tollerable at least now :P Going to see.

There have been rumours about the lacking quality of NVidia hardware for several months now. While my computer shop has been selling those dreaded NVidia 680i boards and "everybody is happy" according to them, I stayed away from that f*d up northbridge. Too bad you are one of the losers (but I thought the chip would trash _RAID_ systems only..)

Until I have problems that can't be fixed by an update I will continue to enjoy my system. You always hear more about the problems and horror stories, that's always how it is and how it will be. I had one of the supposedly flawed 6800 ultras, and I never had problems with it. And there's no need to be a jerk about it.
