I am calling this the paranoia of spam for 4zzy :king: and adolf :p

What is spam, who says what is actual spam and who says it isn't? What's wrong with spam? Do you not like spam and eggs? Does your stomach revolt against spam the food and spam the writing? Why is everything that you do not like considered spam? Why is a useless topic to you, considered spam? Why not have outrageous ideas and let the mass handle how they interpert spam. Many topics people moan and complain about they is spam, if people didn't like the topic, then why continue writing in it and saying it's spam...when for others it's not spam or meat....Some people like different things than you, is that not ok? :bash: Are we so worried about things that we won't allow others the option of liking something other than our ideas? consider a pizza [stole analogy i think of Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles, how sad hehe ] do we all like the same toppings? Do we all like pizza? Do we all like cold pizza in the morning or microwaved first? I wonder sometimes why people complain about spam or the threads that people write in, i noticed people keep writing in the threads and they only continue on because 3 or 4 of us keep writing in them and laugh at the simple jokes and unexpected responses. I say live on spam and useless games because in the end i hope at least one person continues to write about you and if your thread is not popular, then plz fade away and be forgotten.. :bowl:

Drink to our sorrows, drink to laughter:lol:
United we stand , with steel or food in our hands :hello:
Watch the buxom maids and listen to HappyAdolf's stories :silly:
so we can have a good time and celebrate with a song, a story and a jiggle....

I guess the problem is very simple. Everybody here became very sensitive and offensive about everything he doesn't like.

It started, sorry to say it, by too serioous political discussions where people got very hated to each other, Elewyn had left in a very childish way. Then everybody concentrated to negatives in here and the game and fun had to be less important. Every thread was too offensive and touchy for everybody, everybody started to flame the things and people he didn't like etc. instead of ignoring it. It was:
spamming, political discussions, disabled spamming and many more. Mods (since now) seem to forget a little about keeping the niveau of the forum high by punnishing those who crossed forum rules and everybody got angry.

It's time for new generation, but it is difficult. Oldies had many otions to use their creativity in game ideas, discussing with the devs what is good or bad for the game. But the game now is almost finnish, devs are very rarely here and if something new about game emerges, most of reactions are: "fine, I like it" or "It could be better" etc. but no new ideas, cause no new ideas seem to be effective (game is almost finnished, why to waste your time on thinking about something like KoH2 when KoH1 is not released yet?)

Oldies became too old and bored and most of them had left, newer members (Ben Nevis, Sir Turylon, HappyAdolf, Lord Cool etc) are little too much concentrated to "mud" of games and poilitical debates turning to be very arguy. And the "mid generation" of Nike, Kuno, Bora, Angryminer and me is little too bored of this situation when they miss oldies like Elewyn and their ideas, some of them (like me) feel that people like Elewyn should not have left in a way he did it.

I miss QaS and GD alive as it was some time ago, I miss constructive discussions there and I am bored of this argues and complaints and it was reason of my complaints against political argues which I gfelt as the source of my bad feeling of this forum. 4zzy felt spam as the reason (neither of us was alone in those cases), but complaining and arguing what is the rason of low niveau of the forum is not the right way. But I feel wasted here and now. I need some new impulse about the game to enjoy the forum again. Isn't it the reason of Elewyn's left also?

restate that in common speak. plz. You are saying that I love to argue politics? Very uneducated comment, if I must say so. I hate arguing politics. I love debating. Problem with this matter on this forum, the only person that debated with me was Elewyn. The rest have done nothing but argue.

True as the words which thee have spoken, much is left to be clouded in the paradox of the newer thought. Resist the temptation to implicate the newer posters into the corruption of the discussions. Old Chinese man say, "Never slap the man in front of you when you yourself do not want to be slapped."

Has anyone emailed Elewyn yet? I wonder.......

to solve this... let's make the Royal Inn into a...
"No flaming, politics, fun games, fun stories, no useless posts, no useless replies" section... this really rules out 60% of what can be discussed.

Sing to the ages, the glory of the past.
Reveal in the honor of a thousand years
Follow the path of lesser reknown
Praise to the victor of benevolent peace.

Yes, the real problem is that no real debate can be seen lately. Usually the seriousness of an argument (reason) is drowned in the stupidity of hatery, because not all of what is said is what we like. It's way much rediculous when history is concerned. It seems that we take pride in what our ancestors were, and tend to neglect how we behave now. But the others see what we are now and tend to tease. And this way the reason is lost.
---
Since I joined the forum, I've been reading most of the threads regularly. And I saved myself a lot of time by skipping most of the posts and reading only those of the members that has the maturity to say something.
---
but some people adore spam. And that's not because they want to spoil my or your time here at the forum but because that's the easy way to be noticed and it seems it's fun too. These people post not because of the others and because of what they said, but only because that makes them feel better. They just don't care if you say how stupid they seem to be because their post will come after the yours and they will almost agonise out of felicity.

ignore the felons who despoil our reason

yes, youi save much time and nerves here by skipping threads that are uninteresting for you or only rubish.
by the way, thsi thread can be a nice discussion thread as long as we talk the nornmal way to each other. ;)

Lord Turylon, I think you are the single person that caused most arguements. I admit (and have admitted) I made mistakes and I think it's about time that you admit that you have made mistakes. I don't want this to become another arguement, thus this is my last post in this thread.

I think there were also others trying not only to argue (Ben Nevis, Haegemon, f.i.) you just sisn't agree with each other.

I changed the word you asked me. It's true it were debates originally, but all turned to argues only...

Lord Turylon, I think you are the single person that caused most arguements
This is quite impossible. An arguement can ONLY start if two or more people start it. :nono: If only one person argues, it is not an arguement. Please refrain from the "you started it" bit. I grew tired of that in high school. "he started it!" "I did not, he did!" :rolleye: Why do you keep saying Lord Turylon? I am no lord, I am a vassal. Sir Turylon, fealty vassal of Lords Frujin and Fay, and humble vassal of Queen Nadine. *bows low to the three nobles*

It's true it were debates originally, but all turned to argues only...

Roger. As I have forementioned several times throughout several threads, the sole purpose of some is to argue with others. Take for instance the debate over Christianity vs Islam. The discussion was fairly civilized in nature. One side stated opinion, other side rebuttled and stated their own. The rebuttling went back and forth, very unfrequently turning into a "offensive arguemental state." Now, take the calamity over that silly Iraq War thread. The thread began as a bashing of adminstration. People continued to bash, while a few tried to open the eyes of certain people. No ground was gained to moderate the thread since there was no commonality for one side to respect the other. The whole "I am right and you are wrong" mentality should have been expunged from the debate and left back in grade school.

When a debate turns into an arguement, and one side starts saying the other side is naive and arrogant.... well... we have what we call over here an impasse. How can you logically reason with somebody that wishes only to bash and criticize negatively the opposing side? You can never accomplish that. One major problem, and you can see this with most debates, is that one side will always say "stop with the personal attacks." If you tell somebody that their opinion is narrow minded, they instantly take it as a personal insult. Do they ever think that it could be a generalized opinion of somebody else towards their opinion and not them? Probably not, or we would not have had the "you're arrogant" and "no naive are you" comments floating around. Like I hae literated(wrote) numerous times before, debating can become a personal attack only if you think the other is trying to insult yourself. What defines a personal attack in a debate? Let's give a few examples. "You are so stupid, just look at you...you can't even say nuclear right!" "HAHA, you spelled potato wrong, you must be a moron!" (sound familiar?) When you say... "You are naive to think that is the case." Is that a personal attack? I think not. Many people are naive on subjects; it is the norm rather than the abnorm. Why are so many people naive? It is usually due to what sources you get your information from. Watching nothing but Fox News will not give you a balanced look at what is going on. (fair and balanced, but not so in-depth that we really tell you what is going on.) Watching 3-4 European news channels are not going to give you a balanced look at what is happening in the world either. It does not matter what channel, source, or book you read; your view will be forever skewed one of several ways on a matter. It is very difficult to achieve a commonality with differently opinionated people. The common bond is something called respect.

So, to close, how can you debate without leading the discussion into a flamefest? The answer is simple. You respect the other's opionin, and they MUST respect yours in retun. Posting something like.. "you're a right wing advocate for war mongering" is not going to help a discussion. The same goes for "you're a liberal propagandist bent on global destruction." When you criticize somebody's opinion as being naive on matters, it is not a personal insult. (read again, NOT an insult) You are not insulting the person, you are insulting his facts. What is the difference? It is very hard to tell when you are reading a debate with closed eyes what is and what is not an insult. Here's my advice. The next to you read something, assume third person perspective. Do not look at it from your view, do not look at it from somebody else's view. Think through it logically and with sound reasoning. Never post something that is a contortion of what somebody else said. It will come back to bite you in the end. Beer only clouds your logic when you post, so never post in politics while drinking. Likewise, never post when you are mad. (I've been guilty of last one a few times. damn Irish temper:cool: )

cheers

yep. I hope Elewyn did not leave just because he thought people were "out to get him." but yeah... too heated debates can turn people off. so... don't post if you feel a some animosity boiling up... go have a  and post later. (maybe after a few rounds of fragging godlike bots in UT? I think I'll rename all the bots to Ben Nevis.. hahaha, j/k)
