View Full Version : Patch preliminary info
mmm... I have read it. OK for the date and the multiplayer europe mode but are you agree with me about the gates?... In my opinion, it is an very important thing wich can change the way to play... And what about a fog of war?..
... and please, give us the possibility to close the drawbridge, if not, what is the aim of the moat?...
This game will be almost perfect after all this improvements!... :bday:

Would still like addressed:
diplomacy- being able to contact everyone from day ONE is silly.
princesses- there is no value to marrying them out only risk... well the value is minimal.
builder/farmer knights- currently no real value to using them. Not really.
economy- there's too much food and too much money, too many books, and too much piety.
*adds*
diplomacy- the AI's overall jumpiness and lack of self preservation. No mono-province country on the other side of the map should be allowed to get medieval on me just because they think they "need more land"!

Since I saw little of my wishes up there, will there be released a modding tool with the patch? Or right after?

Noo, don't change this. This is one of the few things that this game is better than RTW on (including that it is set in Medieval times, is played in real time and has better music)...

Can be interesting if you have to use a Knight in a "diplomatic" way, so he has to phisically go to the foreign countries to propone treaties.

you gotta be joking... you cannot close the drawbridge in the town which gives access to the Keep?
AI doesn't use siege weapons yet?

There's no need for siege weapons. I have yet to come across a need for them. They just slow your unit down.
The patch may change this, though, as I understand they are going to increase wall strength. Right now, though, all this will do is slow you down, but won't stop you as archers don't fire from walls. (Yeah, they really don't!) Except from the top of a gate, I think. But from corner towers or other parts of the wall, nope. I've never been able to get them to shoot. Rather pointless.

To the people that say piety is "too easy" to earn - have you tried playing isolated catholic nations in the holy land yet?(Antioch, in particular). All of the neighboring provinces are either orthodox or muslim. Takes -forever- to get any decent amount of piety.

I think this game is awesome, I just wish it had a random map generator or the abilty to rename your country...some thing like that to add more variables. Like the old imperialism games when you went looking for the new world the map was always a new one. Some thing like that would really spice things up. Maybe even an editor to design your own units on a point system or somethign like that...just a thought, and probably in the wrong place sorry.

No, It is not a joke... unfortunatly... all the most importants things about a medieval war game are in koh: siege improvments, moats, Gates, drawbridges, oil caulrons... :bday: but none of them have importance in the game... when they works!... It is really a shame and that is why I have already stopped to play at koh... But I keep an eye on the patch which would bring a lot of improvements.

Just go conquer scotland while making allies with the Yorks... then move your center over there.
See, that's one of the problems with the game, you aren't limited by geography in any meaningful way.

Oil cauldrons work. They are a lot of fun to play with.
But the rest, yeah. Virtually no point. The whole sieging thing needs to be...well, not "improved" so much as "added". Because there is no reason to siege at all. Just go right to "assault".

And take away one of my precious marshal slots to fuel the unsupportable war that would cause?
Oh wait. I can just white peace.
Oil cauldrons work.
mmm, yes, of course it works... when you use them... but IA have probably loosen the "instruction manual for oil cauldrons" because they never use it against me. Don't you?

I humbly beg your forgiveness, but I can't quite follow some of that.
It is true, however, that I have never seen the computer use oil cauldrons on my troops.

I hope that they also add new units to the game. Nation specific units...
- war elephants
- skirmishers, javelineers, slingers, ...
- Gunpowder units like unstable cannons.
New units are too difficult to add (since the 2d of the game)
Anyway War elephants, skirmishers, javelineers, slingers are more like BD (rome time) units...

I propose the double-upgrade, is very bad the attend of upgrades... I will want built in the same time two different construction for example: Spear Maker(military) and Inn(civilian).
