This website was originally written as a humorous commentary on the endless speculation about the development and release of "Elite 4", that took place on usenet towards the end of the 1990s. For almost a decade Elite 4 has been a game that Frontier Developments have been about to seriously start work on; but development never actually seems to occur. Much of the hype is generated by the expectation that there will be an Elite 4, rather than any promises made. Since the release of Frontier First Encounters (Elite 3) in 1995, the "space sim" genre has gone into decline, which virtually no new games being released for the genre by 2006.

In spite of a decade without any new Elite game, the Elite "community" is still alive. And some people still believe that a fourth version of Elite might even be released in the future. These are a few places to look for information about Elite 4... or 5:
