Yesterday, I read in the newspaper the following story: There was a child in the same hospital where the Pope was; his name was Marco from Sicilia. Marco got a chemo therapy against his brain tumor in that hospital, and he was eager to see the Pope. Though the nurses stated that the Pope should not be disturbed as he had to sleep, an assistant of the Pope helped Marco to get through to him. And... The Pope gave him his blessings, and told Marco to forward his best wishes to the other children in the hospital.

As you probably know, I am not religious at all, but I have a deep respect for the Pope. That does not mean that I share all his opinions, but I think he tries to make the world a bit better. Maybe he is not right in everything he does, but looking at his whole work I see more positive than negative results. :)

Im not catholic. Wishing pain upon him makes you much worse then him. Even if the pope has caused problems for many people id bet that he does most of it with good intentions. What you have said is pathetic and rude.

Poeple, this thread was suppose to be a "get well" thread for the pope. Not a "bash the old man" thread. So if you don't have anything nice to say about the pope then don't say it at all.

If this continues to be a negitive thread about the pope I will ask the webmaster to close the thread. I will not be a starter of a thread that is a negitive view on any kinda of religous figure.

Shame on all you negative people
I have been a member of these boards for several years now and I am appalled at the response of some of you! Shame on you! The Pope is a human being and has worked hard for many years to make the world a better place for ALL of us,whether we be Catholics or not. He is not perfect but at least he is trying to do something positive. If nothing else he DESERVES the respect of the people and their prayers for his recovery. He was picked by the church to lead it and has done so to the best of his ability. As far as his age is concerned, many have lived and FUNCTIONED well past their"prime age". My father was well over a hundred years old when he died and HE was still breaking and selling horses at 99 years old. So age is not a factor. The Pope has my prayers for as long as he needs them.

"The Pope has my prayers for as long as he needs them."

Let's hope that isn't much longer.

He was admitted again yesterday, and operated on.

According to the Vatican, the pope is okay ( considering the circumstances )

Alas.

lol the man attacked homosexuals and marked them as demons and for the abortion he marked it as a devilsh deed he compared it as the nazi mass mudering on jews in ww2 . abortions shouldint be compared with horribile things but i have to agree a little , its like killing someone , to kill a human before he/her even has been born , its brutal and ruthless . thats what the pope thinks you can agree its brutal , but its made by causes , doubt that a mother would ever dare hurt her child .

The older I get the less I worry about death. Death does not have a strange effect on me as it does some. I know that death is a part of life. People die and life goes on, it no longer bothers me when someone close dies.

For the Pope to die is his gain, no more pain and suffering for him. Then life will move on with another Pope.

Native Americans feel much like you do Dobber, however we believe that when you die your spirit lingers on if you died without honor. There are some in this world when they die their spirits will never rest and forever be a "dust devil in the desert".That is one thing the Pope doesn't have to worry about since his life has been honorable from the time he escaped the Nazi regime during WW2 and helped to hide many of those that Hitler wanted dead. I just hope when it happens and a new Pope is named that he will be as conscienceous as John Paul II has been.

i don't like this bias towards the pope !!!
sure the catholic church made mistakes like everyone does and some guidance from the pope seem to be unfitting in the modern world of the industrial nations.
BUT there are so many people working for the church helping people all over the world regardless the situation and the odds.
this people should be really honored. for them them and the people getting the help the pope is a spiritual leader.
and no one deservers to suffer at the end of his life !!!

please think about my words and take a look on our posts before judging about the pope.

please watch your choise of words carefully, so that people don't misunderstand you !!!
