View Full Version : [en] Pope John Paul II
NO! Allah is NOT the same as the Christian God. There are so many differencies between them, youll have to go deep to see them. please keep this all to one topic.
Its sad to see that only the blackest things in history stay in the mind. Crusades did alot of good things, not to mention how incredibly cruel the muslims could be. Again, keep it to one topic.
Ill reply to the rest after dinner, maybe later.
Example: that UN associates do terrible things with women in Congo doesnt mean they are doing a bad job over there.
In catholicism, youre not allowed to have more than one wife at a time. Also its forbidden to have sex outside marriage. If you dont agree, thats your problem. If people in Africa say theyre catholic, they should obey these rules. Its not catholicism that causes AIDS.
So what if it costs a generation to teach the people? At least it saves many lives from the fires of hell, imo.
ohhh Fires of hell:beek: , Or Yay heaven!!........ all the same thing. In my opinion Alah, christian God, Catholic, jewish, and all those religions ar the same God. The only difference is the "Holy book"( koran, bible Ect...) which is emphasised in the culture of the people and by who was written. I my self don't believe on any church, bible, for my own reasons. Why i don't believe on the bible or any "holy book" u may ask? Simple, by who were written this books? People just like you and me right? what does people tend to do when they see a way of getting power? Is our nature to be selfish and greedy in a way and once you find a way to take power, MAN!! you really use it. Lets take the crusades for example. They wher suppost to be to banish the corrupt power of muslims, How they did it? Killing 1000's and using war. What does the bible trys to tell us? suppostly everyone is equal, and doesnt it says, to forgive your enemys and not to kill others? IT Is A SIN TO TAKE OTHER MEN'S LIFE accordin to the bible, yet the popes used the crusades to kill the muslims, Ironic, isn't it .They were more warlords like than religius leaders. AN WHY? Simple, power. How about during the renaissance when scientist who expressed their ideas and discoveris and that prove the bible wrong where burned on a stak  . Gallileo had to stop saying that the sun was the center of the universe, or else... getting himself killed by orders of the pope. And when the conquest of america began, din't the so call christians and protestans kicked the **** out of the indians because they weren't their religion. This is only for christians, let me not even start with the others. Also something stupid, Why can't popes and the such have wifes, it would stop all those peverted priest from destrulling a innocent chield's life. Wasn't women made from men, for men? That what the bible says. Why it is so bad to use a condom? Or let a women have an abortion? Why most people hear some invisible guy in the sky, tell them that if you don;t do the ways i say you will go to hell? I though absolute power corrupts absolutly, Then isn't "God" corrupt too ? He has absolute power  . And if god is so "powerfull" why do the bad thingsl ike Aids ocurr? Or WHY Good people die, while Real bastards, Sons of #@@! stay alive killing many people. And my answer to that, is simple. There is no god, there is no devil there is no after life there is Nothing!!!!, once you died, u died and that's it. Religion has allways been a way of controling people, and it has been since the begining of men.
I don't believe this thread was started to discuss religion, the pro's and con's of the different religions and the ills of a certain religion. Every time a thread has been turned into one as such this one is turning, there has been people nearly ready to kill each other. There have been people leave, never to return because of discussions concerning religion and politics.
As Largrfry has stated, he did not start this thread for it top turn into a Pope bashing thread and I am quite certain he includes religion bashing in that statement.
He started the thread for people to be able at that time to express their concern with his illness and express sympathy.
The thread is entitled "Pope John Paul II", anything not pertaining to him is off-topic!
Take your religious arguments elsewhere.
Let the memory of Pope John Paul II rest in peace.
hehe I just wanted to say that I don't want ultra-conservative Ratzeinger to be a pope. Anyway I shouldn't care since I'm not catholic, but I care of it because even a dumb pope would be strong authority for many catholic people all around the world.
To be honest John Paul II was a big authority for people across religions, across borderline of conservativism vs. so called progressivism however he was (rightfully) criticised by all sides. He was John Paul the Great not because being conservative or progressive, not for being intolerant, but because he was open for many new ideas. Could you imagine that information about Ratzinger's death is sent by journalists by e-mail? I don't.
I didn't started to talk about religion and I won't continue...(only one thing: it is not catholicism what kills people in Africa, right. But Noldy, do you think that Europe would change it's mentality in few years as you ask Africa? they need help, not being condamned that they are not absolutely true catholics. How many of European catholics are absolutely true catholics. The one who is not guilty , throw the stone (sorry if bad translation)
One may agree or disagree with opinions of the last pope but ultra-this or that is not the right one to be his successor. I believe that cardinals will follow the Holy spirit and elect the right one (=not Ratzinger:smile:)

Ratzinger would be a step back..he is some kind of exorzist in person ;) ultra conservative...although I didnīt like John Paul, he did some very progressiv, good things in order to get along with other religous groups and was the first to think about cruelties done in the name of his religon...a conservative pope would be a step back.
Last night they were talking about potential popes on the evening news. All of them, yes all of them were said to be conservative, some very so (Ratzinger) and others a bit less, but all conservative. So i dont think were going to see condoms allowed and femine priests in the near future. Regardless of my opinion.

I donīt know, what was said in your TV...but here in Europe some less conservative, mone could almost say progressive ones have also been talked about...and maybe we can discuss, your arguments about female priests in the other topic...
So... Ratzinger is the new Pope Benedict XVI. What are your opinions? I think it's too early to say something. We will see, how he will cope with all these papal duties.
