We did revanche against Swiss - best game of Slovaks till now and they (Swiss) can Thanks only Golie Gerber that the result is as is.

He's always surprising me. I never wanted to say that but after I saw what he was able to do with Slovaks and even with Russians (though Czechs've lost), I must say that he really is the best Ica hockey player of this time :go:

So here we have semi-final duels:

Czechia (3:2 to USA on penalties) - Sweden (2:1 to Swiss)
Canada (5:4 to Slovakia) - Russia (4:3 to Finland on panalties)

I'm happy of total revenge for the defeat I saw a year ago in Prague... In that match Czechs led 2:0, drawed finally 2:2 and lost when US scored 1 from 5 penalties by Andy Roach. And today it was exactly the oposite (2:0 USA, 2:2 after 60 minutes, Martin Ručinský was the only who scored in from penalty)

really to say, our team (SVK) has given to much place and time to canadian snipers. If I should mark from 1-10 (10 - best).

golie (Lasak) - 6, he could catch 2 of them

defend - 3 , (Chara totaly disapointed me - was on ice by 4 canadians goals; Obsut and Vydareny (1-2), add some assits to canadian goal; Granak (4) Visnovsky, Strbak they played their standart.

forwards - 8; Palffy (7) sould give the penalty , but Brodeur was excellent,
Demitra (10) shots two goals, very good, Hossa Marian(8) make his standart, Handzus (10) excellent, played with hearts, Satan (5) totally disapointed me, play without hearth...

Coach - (5), I think he did some mistakes - he should take time out earlier in 3. period (in out powerplay cca 2.5 minut before the end) not 20 sec front of the end. He should motivate more the players,

I hope for a good champion at the very end of this WC.

I haven't seen the match (as well as Czechia:USA :bash:) but when listening it in radio at work I was quite happy when SLovakia led just ion 1st minute :smile:

but the result made me really sad :sad: We'll defeat Canada for you in the final :wink:

I must laugh how Canadians couldn't stand they've lost and 12 seconds to go (3:0 already) they started to fight Czechs....

And I liked to watch Czechs how they were calmly laughing into Canadian faces while those poooooor Canadians were :angry: Seen Smyth what he did to Fischer? He should have disabled playing ice hockey forever for such behaviour. (20 seconds Smyth's only interest was tripping his leg brutally)
Is this behaviour of captain of silver medal team?

PS: it was the first match where Nash was eliminated :go:

Yes, it was frustation from Smyth, but have you seen the stick of Fisher. It was between Smyth's legs (what was not very fine). Sure it was overreaction but not without reason.

Canadians shut their guns agains SVK and Russia, namely the game agains Russia took him lot of power. And I think, they (CAN) vere pretty sure, that they will beat Czech.
How about suprice?!

but I was very afraid of the final. Overtime against Sweden was very exhausting too... and Swedes said that one of reasons of their defeat in 3rd place match was exhausting match last evening...

I was watching it and really in the end of 3rd period of semifinal CZE-SWE both teams were our of strength... and even more in overtime...

PS: EVERY defenseman keeps his stick between forwards legs when they are around the goal. EVERY! It is normal way of defending...

hehe, Canada and US again in the same group :wink:as well as Slovakia and Russia...

and we will finally have some hard oponents in basic group. Superpower (Finland) and also very hard Latvia. I hope we will defeat Slovenia not to fall out

PS: I think that WC system should change. There is too many matches with no actual sense (Basic and quaterfinal groups....if spewaking for IH superpowers)

PS: what do you think about Germany fallen to group B? :eek: I was shocked.
They defeated Slovenia 9:1 but it was still not enough when they drawed with looser Austria :sad:
IMO one of adepts to be 8th superpower is gone to group B... but anyway I think this year they deserved bad results. They did not perform any good hockey...

Just a note: in Canada it's called hockey; not ice hockey. Any other type of hockey is annotated, ie: field hockey, roller hockey, etc. If I just said hockey vice ice hockey in Europe would it be confused with something else?

in hockey countries like Slovakia, Czech, Russia, Sweden .... no
in not hockey countries like e.g. Belgium yes,

In the Netherlands which is much better in field hockey it would probably mean field hockey

But we Czechs say only Hockey(=ice hockey. IH for is used just as oficial name of it) and it is like in Canada: all other "hockeys" have annotation
