I have had the AI offer me a province to attack someone or even to just break relations with someone, usually only after I declined their request, they would then offer a province in return. This was in vanilla and I have had it happen with and without the patch.

The AI hardly ever offers me to attack someone AND give me something for it. Why does it do that with you? Is that something you modded in or is it in the vanilla patched game??As Dobber said, it happens when you decline their request, sometimes they give you counter-offer. SOmetimes it is that they attack someone, break relations, marry their princess to your prince/king or offer you province(very rarely)

And I have YET after a 5 hour HARD game to have run into an AI spy at all!?!? :nono:In this my current test-game, just several minutes ago I lost my 2nd merchant as spy + I also lost a cleric

Spies are usualy exetuted without mercy(by me), marshals I release in order to improve relations and be able to sign peace.
And how does one go from a MINOR power to a MAJOR power!?!?you join the "elite company" of 7 most powerfull kingdoms

Invasions in Nicaea (http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/9097/nicaeainvasions1yl1.jpg)
Lycia lost, invasions go on (http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/8686/nicaeainvasions2ij6.jpg)

In the game I have lost Lycia to Jerusalem, but after long marathon I managed to sign peaces with all but Jerusalem, Latins and Saloniki. I just eliminated Saloniki and now I plan to reconquer Lycia from Jerusalem. But unfortunately I lost my best marshal in one battle (I will miss his engineering skill so I have to postpone attack on Constantinople) I hope that there won't be many wars at least until my king lives, as I have good relations with most of surrounding countries now (due to releases of prisoners and peace treaties with their allies).
But once one of them declares war again, I expect the invasions again as they are all either allies or have NA pacts. I'll see what will happen if I will conquer Lycia back from Jerusalem.
If I'd play with pause during battle OFF, I'd surely lose.

btw, if there are volunteers to test the mod, I'm open to send you the beta version...
yet I found no bugs and I'm bnow mostly just ballancing things...

So, I tweaked marshal skills (at the moment almost all are radically weakened)

I didn't expect it could have any large effect, but it really works.
Now my 10+ star marshals find it hard to defeat AI's 1-5 star marshalls, just because AI has more money to buy good units.
Still playing my Nicaean game and the hardest opponent is Jerusalem with Templars and crusader crossbowmen (who were improved in order to strenghten Crusader armies)
I still need to keep 2 my marshals in my south-eastern border to defend Crete and Lycia (which was lost again) and it is hard to reconquer it when they always have one marshal there and other 2 keep invading either Crete or Anatolia.
The other marshal has problems but is able to defend the Balkans from Serbia and Sicily.
I'm glad I finaly managed to sign peace with Golden Horde so northern Anatolia (provinces of Chaldia and Paflagonia/Sinop and Trapezunt) has peace. If I will somehow manage to sign peace with Serbia I could move the marshal from the Balkans and push Jerusalem back. Maybe even eliminate it

ok. So in the Nicaean game I managed to reunite Byzantia and at the peak I owned 13 provinces. But then the hate of surrounding kingdoms started to be unbearable, they were invading from all sides and I was losing one province after another. Especialy the armies of Jerusalem (who mostly invaded with 2-4 armies) and Ayyubids were unbeatable.

Screenshot 1 (http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/5656/nicaealosing1rv1.jpg)
Even this was still good (http://img125.imageshack.us/img125/2921/nicaealosing2du7.jpg)
Then I managed to sign some peace treaties and after becoming vasal of Golden Horde, their old khan agreed to royal marriage between my prince and his princess, so the process of continuous losses was stopped for a while (I inherited Chaldia back and also Crimea)
But then soon another 2 psovinces were lost, Jerusalem took Hellas and invaded Solun, Serbia besieged Constantinople which was untill that the only safe province (all other being plundered)
I had to accept loss of all Asia Minor except Nicaea mostly to Ayyubids, Bdin to Serbia, Crete and Hellas to Jerusalem + cease Crimea in order to sign any peace and not to lose also Solun and Macedonia.

Peace (http://img226.imageshack.us/img226/6194/nicaea2qx9.jpg) was very bitter, but finaly there was peace. Most of kingdoms around love me (I released their knights so many times that they all have to.

And another chapter has started. I managed to sign alliance with Ayyubids and in close cooperation we fought against Jerusalem (reconquest of Hellas, Crete and Lycia :hello: and now they even agreed to break agreements with Serbia so I can attack them.

Now I will be very carefull especialy in my relations with Ayyubids... to bring peace I lost 10 provinces and I don't want to repeat it. Now I rebuilt the kingdom, reconstructed my cities and fortified them, gained some kingdom advantages (after conquest of important Hellas and Crete) so my income can supply Serbian campaign.

I don't know if Laudan has experienced it in his Invasion mod, but today I had 11 enemy marshals invading my province of Crimea:

the eleventh is in the northern end of Sea of Azov

Looks like it was a nice party. 2 enemy soldiers per square meter of territory or something like that.

The more enemies there are the more glory there is to be gained! :knight:

You might find many posts disappeared from this thread. I moved them to another thread:

Holy Rome 1.8 beta (http://forum.sunflowers.de/showthread.php?t=16691)
just to make everything clear. After a final version will be done, I will close both, the beta and 1.7 threads
