I recall I did. Orthodox for sure. But I honestly dont remember if I had an independed church at the time. I had independand orthodox for sure, and I for sure converted others to orthodox. But both together....
Is there any problem with that?

Are you an unindependent orthodox church from the beginning of a game? How come it's good to be independent orthodox and not so good to be expelled from the "dependancy" of the holy roman empire/papacy?

We proud orthodox have no connection with evil catholic church or cave of a devil called papacy! LOL
man, orthodox is a greek - byzantie - balkan - russian - armenian church. They dont have Pope, they have patriach, and patriach is just a head of a church, not a god sent Pope. In a game, orthodox churches are under byzantie patriach at the start, but you can claim independance, and then, well check the manual for bonuses. All I remember is that BOOKS will flood your kingdom:)

Yes but when you're catholic, the other catholic countries will be more likely to attack you if you have been excommunicated by the pope. This isn't the case if you proclaim independence from the Byzantine patriarch?
Thank you all for useful information! :go:

Eh, from some of my first posts/questions, I recall that breaking away from the Orthodox Church in Constantinople causes your relations with Byzantia to drop, books to increase, and it also effects gold (don't remember whether it was positive/negative influence). I don't remember if the Orthodox morale malus (-3?) is affected either.
declaring your orthodox church independent from Constantinople leads to drop of relations with all subordinated orthodox kingdoms as well as WAR with Byzantine empire or Nicaea + bonuses described by Illuminatus!

I need help! I have a seaside town with an admiralty governed by a level 3 merchant and in the import exotic good box it shows I am importing silk. However, in the Kingdom Advantages window it says that I do not have any exotic good. What is going on?

You have to wait a while before your good arrives at your port. The picture of silk will appear where the anchor was, and a very, very small progress bar will appear at the bottom of that picture. When the bar is full, then you will get your good. I think it takes 2-3 minutes or so.

I feel silly for even posting that question because even though I didn't see the progress bar I should have realized that it would take a while. Also right after I posted that I went and played that game and found out about the time delay. Also :bash: I :bash: pressed :bash: that :bash: button :bash: 3 times :bash: and spent :bash: 15000 gold :bash: instead of 5000 :bash:

Mercenary units include: all of the above, Spearmen, Desert Spearmen, Saracens, Horse Archers, Bowmen, and Desert Archers plus maybe one or two more units that I've forgotten
Actually, if you conquer the right polish provenices, you can make horse archers. (For people who are still playing the demo, like me.)

I have a question about units.
There are cavalry units with swords and there are cav units who use spears. Is there any difference between the two types regarding battle performance?
The same question goes for all other units having nearly identical stats, but different names. Is there a difference or is it just for flavour....
thx...

1. Spears are very effective against cavalry. Hobilars have an advantage in fight against cavalry above light cavalry.
2. Every region had it's own types of units. While western europe had their feudal knights the byzantine empire used cataphracts. Both heavily armored, but thousands of miles apart.
The "double units" are caused by regional differences that derive from the history of that region. :go:

I answered basically the same question in another thread. See here. (http://forum.sunflowers.de/showthread.php?t=4121)

Thx for the answers, I will take this into considerations when the enemy army "is disheartened" and runs away from my catapults and archers ;-)
KoH is a great game. Flavour-wise that is.

Because I didnīt played multiplayer yet (weak processor, not even a half of required) I donīt know how long game in King of towers mode lasts. Could anybody tell me? approximately, 10-20 minutes, 30-60 minutes or even more?
Thank you. It will help me in thinking about KoH2

The duration of a towergame depends on the strategy of each player. Some players achieve a mayor victory after mere 5 minutes. But games mostly last about 10-15 minutes, I think. Never actually measured it.

that's what I wanted to hear :go: thanks

I'm affraid that it was. I don't know why because I think it was very promissing. But many people said that they didn't know anything abut this game and they were surprised how good it is.
Probably there was poor propagation also in Europe... and almost no propagation in North America(as Sir Turylon said, if he din't know about this forum, he'd never heard about KoH)
How can a game be successfull when gamers don't know about it?
Hoi Elvain :hello:
