Brief English summary of the conditions:

Defeat the pirates and get the iron ore monopoly.

Send in your savegame (shortly before it ends automatically) until January 31, 08:00 p.m. CET.

Winner is the one who's got the most iron ore mines that are still fit for use (i.e. not exploited and not collapsed) in the end.

Annophil has not decided yet if there will be prizes to win, but it's at least a matter of honor and glory! :king:

..you were quicker than me Budgie :p
(I opened Annophils mail too late - but therefore I do not have to use my dictionary again )

In addition to your post:

Here you can download the Contest - scenario (http://www.olydorf.de/)

However.. I think the targets are too easy , or ?
Or am I a little bit too blind ?

hm.. is it normal to start with 255 cannons on the ship! or is it my game that's corrupt?

Frieden

No.
That's normal.

But ..I still think the targets are too easy, 'cause each player will have the maximum of running ore-mines or ?

Im legendären Gamesweb (http://forum.gamesweb.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=281434) können sich auch Spieltipps finden.

In the thread mentioned above the game will be discussed, maybe, too.

There has got to be more to it than meets the eye..........There has to be!

I just had a look at the scenario... The main islands are very nice (but there might be a logistic problem ;) ).

I think there is no endless iron ore at the map, and probably no big ore ressources... The pirates are disturbing, and no free traders, but a lot of smaller islands... hmm... :)

I think I'll try to start tomorrow. :)

:bconfused
We have to have the ore mines running for them to count?

Can they be resting? It is ore mines and not ore mountains, correct?

I have started and this is a neat map. That battleship with the 255 cannons can sure beat down a pirate ship fast.

I had to stop playing my new game and start this one up.

Yes, they can be resting. Correct, it is ore mines and not ore mountains.

... And I suppose we should not use the editor, correct? ;)

Frieden

Editor ? In no case. I Think.

I remember the Christmas Contest 2003. When even some great annoplayers made a wrong 'klick' in the wrong moment. And their endscreen made us see that they used the editor, even without intention.

By the way ... I don't think that this scenario needs support by editoring. But, maybe I haven't seen the eastereggs yet

I saw a nice detail... but no "new feature" (up to now). The big islands are a bit tricky as the ships cannot find their way properly, and if you want to use them, you have to think twice. And you have to watch your iron ore... :D

A nice detail ?

I've seen one nice detail too, - but it's only of importance if I need gold. But I think I do not need gold here

RoadRunner

It's just about the (IMHO) optimal position for a warehouse at the big islands... But nothing which you do not already know. :)

And the gold... I am not sure, but I suppose I will need it. ;)

Frieden
28-12-2004, 19:28
Yes... optimal position ... I thought I was clever but now I recognize I haven't been clever enough

Maybe I'll start once again. Let's see.

And you really mean you need the gold :beek: ? I'm a little bit confused so far. ....

I have collected the gold also. I don't know if I will need it but ... better to have it than to not have it and get stuck.
I have noticed the 'best' place for the warehouse, or at least my best place. It will be interesting to see how every one solved this. My trade routes are interesting.

i would get a hold of all those iron ore mines to start with protect them and then figure out a central point to put the warehouse - perhaps with some defensive units as protection from the pirates.

@monstercash: Did you really have a look at the scenario, or are you just guessing? ;)

@RoadRunner, He doesn't even have 1602! And I don't think he has ever even played it or seen it played. I certainly hope no-one is paying any attention to him.
