How about asking Frujin?

Doux
10-02-2006, 22:00
But sadly, I'm getting no response from him since.. months and months and months and months ... ...... ...

Is it just a question of adding .rle and img files?
It's more the editing of them - if we know how they're built, we would know, maybe. I do now know how BMP's work so I'll have a look at .RLE again.

Yes, the hospitalier(in german Johanniter) was the first Crusader Order, here the http://olliminator.homepage.t-online.de/hospitalier2.pnghttp://olliminator.homepage.t-online.de/hospitalier_m.png
Well, it's a really nice picture, but not exactly accurat.
In the first place, the surcoat worn by the hospitaller order in that period was black, with the eight-pointed cross of profession (the order's website (http://www.orderofmalta.org), look near the top of the screen, and you'll see an eight-pointed white cross surrounded by red, think of the red as black).
The red surcoat, with the plain cross was adopted later, when the order moved to Rhodes, so in the period that KoH covers, the Knights Hospitaller simply wore the black surcoat with the eight-pointed cross (yes, it is very, very crazy that they wore a black surcoat, combined with armor, in Palestine).
I'd look for a pic of the surcoat, but I've never figured out to post an image:nono:

Well, the problem is that the cross on surcoat is changing depending on kingdom colours. I have just ordered photoshop so hopefully in future I could edit the images.

But anyway, hospitaliers in 1.7 version are cavalry unit with overlook copied from Spahias (I know it's not perfectly accurate)
heh, I don't know why I haven't used crusader cavalry

So in the beta I will release hopefully today evening there will be Hospitaliers looking like Spahias and in the full version they will have crusader cavalry overlook...

One problem that may cause delay (of HR1.7) is that I have to make exact list of changes which I don't have at the moment...

...
Does PHOTOSHOP have the ability to edit .img and .rle file?

Elvain, I contacted Frujin by PM and mail (BSS).

And no, qorda, sadly Photoshop cannot edit the .RLE files either. We can edit the .IMG files already, though.

But you can change the .BMP's with any program, why order the expensive Photoshop for that? I'm using paint and some other free program. All colour changes (by kingdom) are in the .RLE files, anyway, which we can't edit.

If it's really necessary to contact Frujin I could look for their phone number. I had it once, but now I lost it, although I hope they've put it on their site. And it's quite cheaper for me to call him, you know!

I wouldn't order it if I needed it only for this, Doux

I think we need the .rle editor to move somewhere...(at least in the spheres we can do something now. It would be the best to get more possibilities in improving the AI, but ....

HR 1.7 beta is done. Now I just need some space on the web to host it and then it will be available. I would be more than happy if comments will come (I will keep testing it as it may have some small inballances)

The reason why I offer it so soon are new units and exotics being converted to valuables. These are the main innovations of the mod, but there are also many other and smaller.

I tried to ballance orthodox kingdoms to enable them easier survival, gave pope the ability to govern provinces (Yes I am a copycat, this was Douxes idea)

I reballanced KP decreases and relation changes (after signing or breaking agreements) to make alliances even firmer,

lowered upkeep of clerics to enable especialy orthodox kingdoms to become independent (and stay independent after some time.

Rebellions are limited, but rebels are still strong, so they still are little challenge for the player while the Ai can deal with them.

Another changes are done on the map (and other will come when the version is finished) - in this case my special thanks belong to Xuca, especialy the changes connected with Serbian kingdoms.

I hope you will have fun and I am looking forward to your feedback

PS: thread about HR 1.7 will be opened when I will have impression that the mod is finnished...

I think we need the .rle editor to move somewhere...(at least in the spheres we can do something now. It would be the best to get more possibilities in improving the AI, but ....I completely agree, but for that, we would need a BSS member to give us the image editor program that is well known to us.

Okay, I've been trying to install HR 1.6.
I downloaded Pacman, created backup copies of defs, europe, and texts, then downloaded the mod.
The problem is, while I can follow the directions and click extract all files to original directories, that doesn't make any difference as I'm essentially telling it to extract the original files, thus making no difference whatsoever.
Moreover, I looked in the HR 1.6 folder, and there seems to be a million folders, with a bunch of files in them, and I'm not sure what to do with them.
Help?

I think about it. I am just not sure of to make it separate pack or part of HR1.7 unitspackOkay, I've been trying to install HR 1.6.

to be honest, I would wait 2-3 days untill the 1.7 version is about to be "released"

but if you don't want to wait.

when extracting files fro original files you don't change anything, just make it easier for the game to read new files. Those new files need to be copied there in exact order (as they are in original directories)
I usualy pick the entire file (defs f.i.) and move it into Knights of honor folder and so I am asked if I wish to rewrite all the files. To install the mod you have to agree.
I use Total Commander, but you can also open two windows of my computer. In 1 have Knights of Honor folder with defs, maps Texts, packs and system folders
in 2 have defs, images, maps, movies and texts folders. Then copy all the folders to the window 1 and check if there is file unite_rome.ini in defs/Quests

if any problem, ask me again

You got over 6 new units in your mod? Or did you replace old ones by new ones, too?

What do the assassins do? Do they kill enemy kings and marshalls?

yes, Spahias are removed

Assasins are muslim military sect originated from ismailiite shi'a (like Templars, Hospitaliers and Teutonic knights are catholic military orders) they are auxiliary unit (skilled in both melee and ranged fight) with deadly attack, but bit weak defense... are available in Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Antioch and Jordan
