After long time of testing here it is.

This mod is done to make the game better as I personaly feel it, though I think many of you could find it more fun than before. It was done to make the game more historicaly accurate, to add new kingdoms and quests to a game, to make AI more competable-so the game more challenging
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Requirements
English version of KoH with patch 1.03
Lot of time to play!
Being unsatisfied with English version of KoH with patch 1.03!

2. Disclaimer
This is not an official patch and I do not guarantee that it will serve any purpose. It may crash your computer or do even worse things. Only use this mod if you are aware of this fact. Use on your own risk.

3. Installation
I recomand this way. To install the mod you need to have programm called PakMan(downloadable in http://forum.sunflowers.de/showthread.php?t=3255)
before you install the mod, make backups of defs.pak,europe.pak and texts.pak!!(I recomend to create "Knights of Honor\backup" folder and move them here

Use PakMan (http://forum.sunflowers.de/showthread.php?t=3255):
a) open PakMan
b) open europe.pak in PakMan
c) rightclick on one of files, "extract all files - to original directory(ies)"
d) do the same in defs.pak and texts.pak
e) copy all files from unzipped HolyRome into Knights of Honor directory and when asked if replace already existing files, agree!
f) check if copy was done proprely: in Knights of Honor directory you should have folders: defs, images, maps, packs, system, Texts. Another check, open Knights of Honor\defs\Quests, there should be all of following files:
questinfo.ini, unite_alexandria, unite_Romans, unite_england and many many more. If at least one of those is missing, files were copied wrong....
g) not necessary, but recomended: remove europe.pak, defs.pak and texts.pak from KoH\paks
h) play and enjoy the game

4. Uninstallation
a) Remove the "defs", "maps", "images" and the "Texts" directories from your KoH-folder
b) In PakMan, open backup .pak files(europe.pak, defs.pak and Texts.pak) extract all files into original directories, or move all these 3 .pak files back to "Knights of Honor\paks"

5. Hints
As soon as you have started a new game, press the pause-key and look at the new prices and make yourself comfortable with the new values in the game. Also check that some provinces are renamed now, so many of them can be found somewhere else than before

6. Suggestions
If you have any suggestion, report it on the KoH-forums at http://forum.sunflowers.de. Any comments are appretiated.
or e-mail me on adress elvain.holyrome@centrum.cz (also in the case of not working downloads from here)

7. List of changes
Since 1.6
- war exhaustion is now only a marginal part of kingdom happiness, plundering now affects it much more
- Kingdom power: gold benefit is inverted:
- KP = +gold, -happiness
+ KP = -gold, +happiness
edited KP decreases when vasal claims independency: vasals KP rises, overlords KP drops
- costs of knights education are balanced to engourage AI to educate clerics first and earn even more books
- some knight skills edited a little, benefit from plundering lowered
- claims to inheriting territories edited: demending allies territory is not very popular as well as demanding country with no relations or even at war
- trade profits tuned down. Who doesn't have anything to offer, has no profit
- relations little edited to make alliances last longer and be firmer...
- army food cost rised
- hiring of knights is cheaper(to encourage AI to use them), upkeeps ballanced (1marshal is almost free, second affordable-but not cheap, third only for wealthy kingdoms)
- province population copied from GoG1.6
- resources limit tuned up to 1200(piety and books), starting gold is now higher
- taxes - amost copied from GoG1.6
- adpoting costs 110 per nostalgy point, is affordable even at war
- crusade values edited - pagans have the highest probability, excomunicated catholics are now more likely to be targeted by a crusade as well as orthodox.
also ruling catholic and orthodox provinces adds "crusade points" as well as wars with all christian confessions
- Ai personalities edited to be more honorable but also agressive. Almost every larger kingdom uses espionage now.
- ballanced rebels: are stronger than in vanilla(weaker compared to HR1.4) but they appear more rarely(but still often enough to presennt danger)
if left untouched, their armies rise to be very hard to defeat
- religious bonuses lowered in most of cases
- unit stats ballanced. Ranged units tuned down, armoured units improved
- squad numbers increased
- building costs edited, mostly are now cheaper
- one more new building: madrase - muslim upgrade of university-vary rare
- new quests added - the most important cities give their AI owners gold bonuses when taken
- map is edited newly. Mostly russian and Anatolian provinces changed their names. Anatolian provinces have now names inspired by byzantine themes...

from previous versions there are:
- new units (hospitaliers, baltic cavalry, assassins)
- new buildings (pagan temple, hospital)
- kingdoms edited and many added:
early: Lotharingia extended to Low Countries, Carinthia, Prussia and italiand Norman dominions ewly emerged
high: Ayyubids replaced Fatimids and Bagdad, HolyRomanEMpire covers most of northern Italy, fights League of Lombardy(new), Teutonic order faces pagan Prussians, Flanders and Tolouse are French vasals
late: new kingdoms in HRE territory: duchy of Bavaria and county of Carinthia, Gelre replaced by Holland and Flandre who are burgundian vasals, Armenia moved to Cilicia, Bohemia extended into Silesia and Luxembourg

- regional knight nationalities changed in several cases, turkish, czech, croatian, serbian etc. names are now more accurate
- religion of regions is now little more accurate
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope you will like this mod. If you have any ideas or comments, I would like to hear them...

have fun

Hi Elvain,

When I download your posted HR 1.6 mod, it is saved as a generic HR1 document on my PC. I tried changing the name to a .zip extender, which works, but when I unzip the file, I get just a generic file called Data, which I cannot use.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Hi Elvain,

Downloaded the new .zip file fine, but when I unzipped it, all I see is a Data file - 716kb (same as before).

I see you included the town quests. Sorry for don't sending you my part, I thought there is no use, if the AI will get gold only at the beggining...

I finaly found it working...
Armenia took Antioch and they got the bonus... but in other cases it didn't happen, so I don't know where's the problem.
Better if it works randomly than never

to tha packing problem, I will try to pack it once again

i'll tell you whats wrong with the file.
1.if i don't switch to "binary" mode when sending to a ftp space i get the same result(so maybe it wasn't sent in binary mode?).
2.for some other problems its best to download with a download manager such as flashget.

nice jump 1.3->1.6 elvain i'll test it(ermmm... play it :) i just wonder if you want my criticism or not afterwards :D

to be honest, I'm not interested in yours, I somehow find it hard to believe your words are true...

1.4 was available in 1.3 thread for several months, you probably played 1.4version(I am sure you know it as you say you downloaded it and played)
I tested 1.5 for quite long time(without peasants and other changes), but finally skiped many of those and left this version unreleased as I was not satisfied with it
1.6 is something completely diferent from that

w0lfshad3
30-08-2005, 19:39
you probably played 1.4version
yes

i doubt you don't know this but here it goes:
i work with my ftp space from a DOS console(cmd)
i type ftp "adress"
i type "user"
i type "password"
i type "bynary" keyword
i type "put path\file"
when replacing i type "delete file" then i "put" the file
then i "quit"
...it never given me any dl problems this way.

Will I surprise you? I don't know what is it and I don't even know what was your last post about

Wolfshade was talking about the usage of his ftp-program. (ftp: File Transfer Protocoll)
Most unfortunately, the ftp isn't used to upload files to the sunflowers-server so the information was completely useless and if anything offtopic.

some things have changed. I removed some bugs (bad names in some of new quests) and governordeinstall dropped to 0 so Ai now moves his clerics to provinces where he needs them so adopting of population by AI is more effective...

also educatecost is changed little:
spy = 700, 800, 1000, 1200, 1400
trader = 700, 800, 1000, 1111, 1200
farmer = 500, 800, 1000, 1111, 1200
builder = 500, 800, 1000, 1111, 1200
cleric = 600, 690, 900, 990, 1111

so Ai adopts population before he educates his knights

PS. Why the separate zip HR_mapchanges? Is it for those who don't want the full mod, just map changes?
