Well, this is an idea of you or it's in the game. We will use engineers...?
I don't think this could be cos a moat is suposed to be deep enough to be refilled during a battle...
Maybe ropes, or long ladders...

Yes, that's something i'll asume coz if the mobile tower's ramp can't span across the moat and on to the wall and the drawbridge is up, then i can't see how it's possible to assult the castle  - ofcause this lead to your two other options A)besiege the castle untill it surrenders or B) use your trebuchet to destroy the castle.
btw, LOTR3 has originaly sappers who could fill the moats ( this is also where i got my inspiration from ), but they had to sorta give it up in the final released version.
*WARNING! - off-topic: does anyone else but me think, that the units manning the siege equipment in LOTR3 looks like pixies ! - like the ones found in gardens !* :D:D:D
@Haegemon
I've just found some pics showing the originally planned moat in LOTR3 pay attention to the eart filling in the moat:
LOTR3 moat (http://www.jucaushii.ro/img/LordsOfTheRealm3/09.jpg)
Also try to imagine Koh(2) gameworld in this kinda of landscape - only the graphich had to be a little better - only problem as i see it would be to create mountains which are believeable enough
LOTR3 gameworld - like it was meant to be ! (http://www.jucaushii.ro/img/LordsOfTheRealm3/06.jpg)
looking at these picture also back my claim that KoH(2) should be in 3D - i know that some of would argue that the game specs would be so high that one would need at supercomputer to run the game, but i honestly don't think that this would be the case, coz i have an oooold game called Warzone 2100, from the now gone Pumpkin Studios, and that game only needed a p233, 32mb ram and 4mb videocard ! and still it was able to handle quite a few numbers of unit s at the same time, the game engine is so great IMHO that i think that it could be used even today with just some minor adjustments - i also think thaty it's worth to tell that in this ancient game the buildings didn't seem to "float" on the surface of the soil.
Well what will happen if all games were in 3D ? Then people would say : Why isn't this game in 4D :) (altohough some say that the 4-th demension is time :D therefor a game with 4 dimensions is impossible to make ) !

1.Don't know....like I said who can fill a moat with some archers upside the wall.
2. I don't know if graphics quality could be better in 3D that how it's right now. By other way if there is another KoH game, I prefer it like an extension to improve graphics, more units, a weather engine, interaction with the landscape strategically, bigger known world map, more battle options, improve the IA. All this since the game has not campaigns cos all game it's a campaing. :)

I saw the shots and really have to say some things.First this is the most unrealistic assault I,ve ever seen. The archers are shooting in the cavalary on the other side of the moat insted in the knigths who are coming up to the ladder. Why the hell they don't try to push this ladder down. Do you belive that havy armored knights can pass thrue the moat and why they have to when there is a bridge. About that WV in LOTR3 I think that i KoH looks much much
more more better.:D :D
I personalydont like that 3d grahics for games like KoH or other stradigies like it.
Waybe someone think that 2d is becoming too old, but time cheaked it hondred times, and it still favor tomany people.

Hi Guys!
I think a measurement of how a battle or a siege/besiege should look like is medieval total war!!!
Or take a look at Rome Total War, even when its in 3D!!!:
http://www.totalwar.com/community/rp10.htm
http://www.totalwar.com/community/rp11.htm
http://www.totalwar.com/community/rp12.htm
They donīt have to be in 3D and in this size, but the should be absolutly accurate, historical and realistic!
I still think that LOTR3 has developed much. It looked a lot worse a few month ago.
What I donīt like with LOTR3, is that it is made like a cartoon.
Positive is, that you will be able to create your own Castle!
Interresting will be Stronghold 2
 cheers
Keep on postin boyz

Definitely the best update so far. I think my favorite screenshot is the one where the troops are trying to cross the river while being fired at from the other side.
