Hello People,
BSS is working with full speed on the patch. More news will come shortly. We are investigating the impact the patch will have on user created mods as well.
Thanks...that's great news...

great news!!
today I hear only good news about KoH :hello:
take your time to make everything properly!
I hope we can expect much more challenging (and possibly also moddable) game after the patch :go:
--
btw, will it be possible to post some list of what can we expect in the patch?
I mean general changes you work on..
We are investigating the impact the patch will have on user created mods as wellI think that most of the mod changes could be made again (if necessary or wanted).. but we'd be glad if the changes wouldn't be necessary anymore
tweaking the gamestyle changes is not that hard problem I guess
it's nice from you anyway

I'd like to restrict this thread to the second patch.
If you wish to discuss cultural differences in communication habits, please feel free to open a thread in the DMZ.

Absolutly, sorry Angryminer for getting off track.
As for the patch, it seems quite certain they have begun work, there were lingering doubts on my end until today, with Frujin's last communication its clear to me they have begun and we can look forward to a patch.
If it takes months, I don't care, knowing that for sure a patch will arrive is excellent news indeed!
My hope is that this leads to a sequel or, preferably, an expansion.

So now that everything's cleared up here's the final line. Any offtopic from here on is removed without further comment.
Back to topic:
How is the progress on the feature list?
Is there a "this will be in the patch"-list (contrary to "we might also put this in")? If there is, would it be possible to release it to the public? That would give us the possibility to give feedback. :go:

What is the consensus on the ETA of a list of what will be fixed? A couple weeks, months, 6 months?
I've opened a thread in DMZ for all that wish to discuss off-topic things:
Cultural differences (http://forum.sunflowers.de/showthread.php?p=242136#post242136)
-----------------------
I'm also curious about the list of features if there is some or isn't any.
If there is no list, I'm ready to help making it...
ok, most important things are:
1. map editor
2. AI
I know you people in BSS have a long list, but seriously, this is what matters. Compatibility with mods is not that important.
Anyway, is there any chance that patch wan't require CD in CD-drive to play game? Like last CIV4 patch. You would lose little (or nothing) and gain varry happy gamers + good word for the game.
I can't wait for the patch.

I've sent a PM to Frujin on the 20th this month, he's been here at least twice since then, so if he doesn't reply soon, I'll have to write him a letter, then call him and finally find some time to visit the BSS office...

map editor is really second to AI. The real problem is AI, they can't function they have no ability to attack properly and use fortifications or siege weapons. Also they fail to use kingdom advantages and they build weak units and their in battle strategy (particularly when fortifications are involved) are highly underdeveloped. If these problems all get fixed and nothing else, it will be hailed as an extremely successful patch.

have you missed Frujin's today's post?
I also agree, the AI is the first, map editor though is important too and very closely. Untill the game has just battle multiplayer, the editor can make it live even longer as it adds some diversity.
Priorities as I see them are:
1) make the game MUCH MORE CHALLENGING (remove bugs and gameplay bugs and improve the AI stability, behaviour, even by giving him some unfair bonuses if there is no other way)
2) add some DIVERSITY to the games. There are various ways how to make it:
a) make europe-map multiplayer (what is impossible to ask in a patch)
b) make bigger differences between cultures (religions) and states (nations)
c) make the map editor user-friendly so it is possible to create new maps and/or extend the actual KoH map
I guess from these 2 b and c are the easier ones
3) put something new to the game as this patch emerges after quite a long time (?)
there are quite many ways how to do that, f.i. deepen the diplomacy, add some units/buiildings, add some new features, give use to some almost useless features in the game

Elvain, point taken. My point was that if they even accomplish the issue with the AI I would be impressed, most patches don't make such a big difference as is required.
you are asking to much - I'm talking about mulitplayer
that's a lot of coding
map editor - the AI will be improved in patch, I don't think I've ever seen patch without that
so it comes back to diversity, or maps
I really bad want that editor, but as an alternative they can make like 10 new maps and put them in the patch
after all, maps dont have to be large as Europe map, I also started editor myself and small maps are also an option, some 10-20 provinces + AI with high bonuses = bloodthurst
no no!!
I'm not asking for Europe multiplayer! (well, not in the patch but yes in future as you can see here (http://forum.sunflowers.de/showthread.php?t=11543))
the problem is HOW will the Ai be improved. Let's hope it will satisfy us at least in matters of chalenge.
I think there is enough ideas how to make it

Yes I'm sure the priority is lack of challenge, has Frujin posted any statement as wether this will be addressed? I will be disappointed if it comes back with a bunch of little extra additions but the AI still being weak and not using all the features humans can.
