I hope it will be fixed. I think Frujin already red list in "city vs. province names" thread. I hope they'll fix all these cases: HRE, Buda and Gradec and also many more. :)

I don't know how far the devs are with the final decision, but if they will leave it as it is now (what will make me little angry), I hope they will give us at least the feature which is also with Ireland and it's "little kingdoms becoming uinited". I mean if King of Bohemia captures most of HRE's area, he'll get an option to rename his kingdom to HRE. Not only king of bohemia, of course, but also all duchies such as Austria and so on.

I have another reason, why it's no problem to rename Germany to HRE, on this (http://www.knights-of-honor.net//gfx/screenshots/scr_koh_0119.jpg) screenshot you can see a short description of the kingdom. So I think it would be no problem to explain there that HRE is the correct name...

For this specific issue - we still can't take any decision. At the moment situation is: we think if it is possible for us to make it the way most of you want it or not. So I think it is still open a little bit, so let us give our arguments if we found them relevant. I must confess that this is very important for me for both rational and irational reasons.

My opinion is that here is one strong argument for Germany and many arguments for HRE, some stronger, some weaker, but they are and I want to influence the final decision if it will be possible, yes, that's true.

If you don't care, let's don't care. If you want Germany, defend it :) but please not by not letting new guys to express their point here (let the thread die-he's not dead yet, so let it live :)

Look i want this game to be fun, not historicly accurate. I belive it is more fun to play as Germany then as hre and i am sure there a few people who also would like to play as Germany. You don't see me trying to get the devs to change the country your from to a differen't one. Remember this is only a game. Sure you may think it will make it more fun if the names are of nations are correct but i don't, i don't mind playing as Germany and frankly i would rather play as Germany. See when i am playing a game i am not like hmm this is not correct they should have changed it and that is not the correct nation, i will be man i finnaly have this game time to kick comp ***.

I would rather play as Holy Roman Empire. I sure know this is a game, but I also know this game is trying to be as correct as possible without killing-the-fun. Am I right, Frujin?

Since I think that correct name won't kill the fun, but improve it instead, I would like to have it. Why I want correct names? It would look strange to me to have knights from Czechia fighting German knights. The same with cataphracts from Greece aggainst Romanians. It still will be a game, but not medieval strategy but some hybrid with knights and castles. And it seems that I'm not the only one here.

And if it CAN be described why it is HRE instead of Germany, as Kuno showed on screenshot, I think that although this is only a game there is no reason why those who don't know about HRE will get known. Also movies about middle ages "teach" you history, why should KoH be dumb?

btw comparison with Greece (and Byzantium) shows that there is no problem with using unknown name.
Byzantium is something quite diferent than Greece, but it had Greeks as emperors, major nation were Greeks etc, but it covered area of many nowadays states (Bulgaria, Turkey, Serbia, Albania, Macedonia etc.)

So, if KoH will have Germany I ask you for Greece instead of Byzantium because it's the same and if it doesn't matter with HRE/Germany, why care about Byzantium/Greece. Both were universal empires, one is called correctly, one by nowadays name, what's that?

Well you see Cork the thing is that HRE was not just Germany, but it included many other countires and nations. As Elewyn said you can't call Byznatinum Greece because it was more than just Greece.
You wouldn't call Roman Empire Italy now would you?

The same is with HRE. The main nation was comprised of German duchies, but HRE was more like confederation of different duchies that included parts of today Italy, Burgundy, Bohemia, Flanders and Brabant and many other German duchies.

This has nothing to do with who is from Germany or not, this also has nothing to do with political correcntess, but it has everything to do with historical accuracy.

It would be a big mistake to use Germany over the HRE naming.
We all know the history of the HRE and Germany as well, if I am correct. If you do, this cannot be a question.
