I do not know the story, but as 24h are over I'll make a second guess:
f) 14 and 41
Probably it is wanted that both numbers consist of a 4 and a 1?
Nope...

Kuno: There is no system (4 and 1) I just randomly made the other ones up without thinking...

Another day over....
This time I'll take C, just because I think 12 is too young, but you can never know when dealing with authors....:silly:

5th century in China.
Nope.
And now I'm off to bed!
Well,
I think it was Vitruvius(SP?) a roman architect/engineer that used them for an 'odometer' - definetly not made by VDO
and that would be e)....
E is right! Your turn! :hello:
Coming up with a question is harder than just answering one...
(Didn't read all 24xx posts so don't know if thats been asked before...)
Feng shui is known as an ancient Chinese form to achieve environmental harmony. Literally translated it means "Wind - Water".
It consists of 5 elements.
Which of the following sequences can not be completed to represent the 5 elements:
a) water - fire - wood
b) fire - wood - metal
c) wood - water - earth
d) wind - fire - water
I'm not sure.. but I know that they have metal too. I'm also pretty sure there's at least water and earth.
So I'm guessing the last one, d.

Well, since Gogo was quicker I'll take a... is that okay?
gogo is right :go:
I knew that was too easy...(you guys must have been playing 'Emperor rise of the middle kingdom'
I just found it weird that water-wind didn't contain 'wind' as one of its harmonious elements...
gogo_t - your turn...
