I'll continue then, returning to biology:

A) Charles Darwin

Should be D: Jean Baptiste de Lamarck

(A: Darwin: Darwins results are based on the works from Lamarck and some geology-publications, he was not the first to observe changes in organisms,
B: Linne invented the modern taxonomy,
C: Cuvier still belived in catastrophism, he actually opposed the first evolutionary concepts,
E/F: Hawking has nothing to do with biology and I've never heared of Albert Günther.)

Kuno of Gersenau

Yes it's Lamarck. He was the first one thinking about evolution, just his explanation fot it was wrong.

catt
07-03-2007, 19:13
Well, I've just finished reading a biography about Darwin...

I really start to ask myself what sort of question you're not able to answer....

catt

But Kuno, I'm a geologists/palaeontologist (well, trying to be); I read something concerned with evolution every day...

C-F: :keks:

Maybe the next question will cheer you up!

What type of ship did Darwin sail on on his trip around the world?

a) Frigate (a ship with several masts, all of them with square sails (fully rigged))
b) Barque (a ship with three masts, square sails on the first two masts, fore-and-aft sails on the last mast)
c) Cog (a ship with a single mast and a single square sail)
d) Carrack (a ship with three or four masts, square sails on the first two (three) and lateen-rigged on the last mast)
e) Brig (a ship with two masts, both of them square-rigged)
f) Brigantine (a ship with two masts, the first one with square sails, the second one with fore-and-aft rig)

Kuno of Gersenau

A) Frigate?

PS: right, forgot about the fact that you study geology/palaeontology...
