Sorry, I was doing some Ebay-buisness..so here is a new question:

Which charachter played Sean Connery in the movie "The name of the rose"

a) Bernard Gui
b) Adson von Melk
c) Henri of Baskerville
d) Salvatore
e) Rimigius

Traveller

F) None of the above. Sean Connery's playing William (of Baskerville). Henry of Baskerville is from another novel by another author ("The hound of the Baskervilles" by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle). Both books are crimmies, though...

I liked Salvatore from that Movie, :hello:
But as Traveller said, no one , the possibility F is right - William of Baskerville...

Traveller was right..so it would be HIS turn to ask a question..not your Mircoslavux.....

@Traveller: Your right :go: As a "Homes"-addict I sure knows "The hound of the Baskervilles" but I was hoping to confuse :silly: some of the others by taking this character, which could easily be mixed up with "William of Baskerville" but you figured it out :go:

Traveller

Well, I'm still reading Umerto Eko's book and yesterday I watched some from the Hallmark movie "The hound of the Baskervilles", so...

Which of these lands was the name of an island, with highly developed civilization, which sank in the sea, according to Tolkien?

A. Numenor
B. Valinor
C. Eldoriath
D. Belfalas
E. Atlantis

Btw, Mirco, F would be an interesting answer to your question. And I think he actually did something like that (in his style, of course) - "Johnny English" was the name, I think.

LittleFreak

I guess it's not Atlantis, that would be too obvious.

So I say it's C.

Traveller

Nope, Eldoriath, as far as I remember, was in Rohan, Middle Earth. The only one of the above, which has nothing to do with the sea...

a or b,,...

let me say B???? :go:

sorry Moryarity, I did not know the rules, now I got it... :silly:
So I'm taking back my question about 007 :bash:

Traveller
19-09-2005, 18:21
No, Valinor IS an island, but it didn't sank. It just withdrew from Arda (the Earth). It is also the living place of the High Elves and the Valars and it's also where the dead go, when they die and so on and so on.

But this was not in LOTR, was it? It was in another book from Tolkien...

Xuca

when i read lotr, there was the whole history of the middle earth on the end of the last book, but i was too lazy to read it...
so, i'll guess, a

Traveller

Numenor, the island of Men. They had a highly developed civilization, but grew greedy (etc.) and corrupted by Sauron, who was held prisoner there. At the end Numenor was cursed by the Valars and sank in the sea, while only the faithful managed to escape to Middle Earth and create there the kingdoms of Arnor and Gondor. Xuca's right!

Mirco, this wasn't in the story of LOTR, yes. Although, as Xuca said, in some books there is a chronology in the end. But this is from "The Silmarillion", another book of Tolkien (and IMO maybe better), which I've read long ago and the "description" I gave might be not completely accurate.
