Angryminer's Tale
Perhaps the last part of the unwritten chapters?

The battle was now moving quickly. Hawk Knight had charged, Traveller's troops were fully engaged, even Dobber's banner could be seen moving into the battle.
Angryminer had waited for the reinforcements. Several thousand infantrymen from Dobber had just arrived and Hawk Knight had sent a dispatchment of cavalrymen. As soon as they arrived they were brought into formation with the remainders of Angryminer's cavalry. During that Angryminer prepared his horse and equipment. Armor, nordic shield, morning star, axe, longsword and a lance.
When Angryminer mounted he looked up and saw the last cavalry-banner move into position. An officer with a signal-horn looked to him and waited for the command.
The end of all strategy. No more reserves. The last attack. Angryminer took a deep breath, tightened his grip on the lance and gave the order to the officer: "Move!"

Less than five minutes later the ground trembled as Angryminer and his cavalrymen were charging into the weakest point of his battle section. The lance burst as it hit a roman but the horse still continued to mow through the enemy lines. When it came to a halt Angryminer tossed away the remainders of the lance, grabbed the morning star and started using its deadly momentum against the romans that were surprised by the attack and were without protection against such deadly force.
All over Angryminer's section the charge of the reinforcements fanned the flames of the battle. As ineffable as the slaughter had been, doubled it was. Countless bodies were added to the countless bodies that already lay slain. Like ten thousand apocalyptic riders the cavalrymen reigned the section.
The romans reacted and Angryminer soon started encountering roman heavy cavalry. They didn't get to charge thanks to the remaining roman infantry. The horse of the first knight got to feel the morning star and went down with its rider while Angryminer hurled the weapon at a nearby roman soldier and drew the longsword to encounter another rider who payed with his arm for his attack.

Angryminer didn't know how the battle developed on the other parts of his section. But it was of no importance. There were no troops to shift around. The romans couldn't move around any troops anymore either. The city in the west, Angryminer, Traveller and Dobber charging from north, Hawk Knight from the east - the roman standing ground had gotten small and all their troops were fighting just like the allied troops were. The battle was already decided, the result was just not yet visible.
Angryminer had made all decisions. Now it was fate's turn.

End of the entry.
I was visiting my family over the last few days. I'm sorry that I left you waiting so long.
About the entry - with the locations I referred to the map and descriptions I made a while ago. It's not that important anymore anyway since we're very close to each other either way.
Let's finish 'em. :knight:

Dobber's Log - As the batle wanes

I whistle to my horse and he comes near, he shies just a bit from the smell of blood that is on and all around me, but comes on trusting me. I look around me and find a pike, I pull out my colors and fasten them to the pike, mount my horse and survey the battlefield. I see that the reason for the sudden retreat of the enemies is a charge of heavy cavalry led by a vaguely familiar figure, my friend and fellow Commander Angryminer, whom I had not seen since leaving to look for the reinforcements. I hold my colors high and urge my mount to start in the direction of the fleeing enemy, all our forces will be converging in the pursuit. I will find the rest of the Commanders at the end of the pursuit.......

Eric, Spiced rum please!

Kuno's log

Our lines were nearly broken when two events took place so unexpexpected but so welcome that it was like wonder to my men and me. We were fighting with our last forces when suddenly thousands of horsemen arrived, attacking the Romans from the flank. One of their captains brought me the message that it was a part of hawk_knight's troops coming for our support while he himself tried to attack the Romans from behind. God bless him, his help was really needed. My men cought courage and together with the reinforcement troops we slowly pushed the enemy backwards. now it was them struggling to keep up their lines.
The next event finally turned the battle. Far away on the left flank I could see a heavy charge of our finest cavalerymen straight into the enemys positions. I could see thebanner of Mercia in the front line proudly waving in the wind. Now panic spread in the lines of the enemy soldiers as our troops slowly started to encircle them on the flanks. Suddenly they started to retreat, first only a few back in the last lines ran away but then hawk's cavalery crushed into them from behind and no enemy was left who still thought of victroy. The Roman and Arab banners startet to retreat or sank down in the dust.
Victory was certain and I lead my men into the final attack, chasing the enemy away from the battlefield!

Hawks log,

After heavy fighting the right flank of the romans was crumbeling down. As I saw it with my own eyes, I Yelled in the mid of battle to my men "PUSH FORWARD MEN LET THEM FEEL THE STEEL OF MITHRILL". Then i gave the command to release the reserves into battle. So after a min you could see
15 thousand infrantrie charging out of the forest into the heat of battle.
You could see the fear on the roaman faces and especcialy there commander. As he thought that I had send my full army against him as he had nog reserves left but himself and his 30 bodyguards. But he wasnt charging into the battle but he fled away. As he fled the right line of the romans was finnally overrunn by army. I quickly grabbed a horse and made a flanking move with my army to the centre.

After 10- 15min
I was behind the romans, I yelled for god and mithrill CHARGE!!!. At that point over 90thousand men where charging into the roman back.
I was running a head of the charge clashing into the roman back with my sword cutting evrything on its path blood al over my armour. In the mid of battle i thought where are the arbic soldiers those who are here now isnt the fully army of the arabs. I started to wonder where they are. I qouckly grabbed one of my captains and sended him with a message that he must bring to the messengers who will bring it to the fellow commanders. But i had alos orderd him to send out my scouts to find the arab army. It must getting some where ashore as there army wasnt station on land but on the sea as my scouts reported that there army still dident landed. I hope they will stay back for now as i will take t he mon later. But for now i must continue killing many romans.

Angryminer's Tale
Chapter 28
Written down on the 11th of july

It feels strange to write again. The last time I wrote is less than 2 days ago, but it feels like a lifetime lies in between. Unspeakable things have happened. Our dearest dreams and our worst nightmares came true. My plan succeeded and I managed to temporarily trap a part of the roman forces within the city-walls of Adrianople early yesterday. The message I recieved was true and the allied troops really gathered at noon. We started the battle and lead the most fearsome and unspeakable slaughter imaginable. The hundred thousands died on that field yesterday. Hours and hours the slaughter went on. Romans, Arabs, Mercians, Bulgars and Mithrills all engaged in a horrible butchery. In between was I, fighting, slaying, slaughtering. In the battle I lost my sense of time but I know I the sun was lowering when I became aware of the first allied soldier that wasn't under my command. A mithrill swordsman just suddenly appeared in the mass.
I remember it so well because the sight is burned into my eyes. I must have been staring at him for several seconds in disbelieve, so strange the thought appeared to me that the flood of roman troops could actually subside. For the first time in hours I remembered that it could be possible to witness the end of this seemingly world-devouring battle.

The allied troops had finally gained the upper hand and the roman troops were broken. The fights went on for hours until sunset before the last enemy soldiers were driven away, but soon after seeing that mithdrill soldier it was clear that we won - and lost. Every victory comes at a loss, and great victory come at a great loss.
To be continued

I'm leaving some time now for everyone to write up any battle-experience that should be written up. I tried to push the story forward a bit without limitting the possible storylines for the other bards.

Now, Dobber, why would the Tavern close?Sunflowers was acquired by Ubisoft and will be closed some time. It is unlikely that Ubisoft will maintain these boards. Most of us will propably be moving to the BSS forums (forums.blackseastudios.com) then.

Those of us with an interest in KoH, that is! Which come to think of it, most of us that come to the Tavern do fall into that category! :go:

Well, there goes the anno series:confused:
And the story is looking sharp, just a few more logs, finally:biggrin: . I wonder what will be the next story? Something related to Worldshift?

Dobber
06-06-2007, 21:24
Worldshift is still a while in coming out! Who knows there may not be a next story! But most of us bards have/are registering at BSS, so who knows, maybe, just maybe...

Ubisoft will probably open a forum there for Anno 1701, but have you seen their forums!
I will probably start posting at the Annozone.

Traveller's Log - The month of Chrven (July), the 10th day of the month
After-battle report, part III

It had been many lives since I saw Lord Hawk Knight's heavy cavalry charging in the flank of the Romeans. It had been many human lives, from both sides. Lives lost in fear, lives lost in courage, as the battle was turning from one side to another, fate giving the upper hand to one side and then taking it back and giving it to the other. So many men from all the corners of the world were fighting with all the strength they could muster and yet the battle was far from secured. At once we were losing, then the heavy cavalry of Mithdril flanked the enemy and we gained the "upper hand". Then suddenly the Romean battle spirit raised as well (probably after a speech of some Greek general) and evened the forces. They even seemed to start pushing us back again, until Angryminer charged into the heat of battle as well, boosting our morale once again. Yet the forces seemed fairly even and it looked like both sides have no intention to give up, as if the ancient God of War, Ares himself, had possessed us all with his frenzy and bloodthirst. Nobody cared anymore who will win and who will lose - everyone was fighting only to survive and every fallen enemy was a greater and greater guarantee for this. Not a few people at the front lines went even to full berserk, not caring of their lives anymore, abandoning all defence, as they felt that all is lost, that life has no sense if it allows such massacres to happen among normal human beings, for fathers to see the death of their sons, discouraged they just started bashing everyone in sight, not making difference of friend or foe, until they were finally put down to peace by either side. This continued long, so long, as if the Sun itself had stopped in the sky, letting us fight for days, months, years, eternity... And just as I felt disheartened myself, frustrated by the grand meaningless of this huge butcherhouse, for which I had lost all hope to ever find an end, just when I was perhaps going to lose my mind and will to live, throwing myself into the forest of enemy spears, swords and shields with the hope to finally find rest, the events turned out as quickly, as they were stagnant before. All of a sudden we received new and rested reinforcements in the very rear of the enemy, who were so surprised that soon a few of them threw their weapons with hope of mercy, then more and more and more, the wave of disarmament growing quickly like an avalanche. It probably haven't passed an hour when the battle was finally over and I realized how deadly exhausted I am, both physically and psychically, having my closest squires take me to my tent, where I soon blacked out...
