Jolly good writing there, mate. Cheers!
@Dobber: I hope I understood your entry right and reacted correctly to the byzantine dispatchment in the rear of my troops.
It has been so long, I forgot what my entry was! I guess I will have to scour the Tavern floor to find the remains of my last entry, unless the Tavern story thread has been updated.

Look! It's over there (http://forum.sunflowers.de/showpost.php?p=207883&postcount=1733). Quick, before it jumps into the fireplace!

Well I think I was speaking of the ones coming from the front(didn't know there were any coming from the rear). I thought your rear was protected by the river! For some reason I thought the corner of the castle was in the edge of the river.
However, what I wrote covers you front or back, whichever needs protecting!

Wow, the story's still continuing! Well, I'm quite busy with my new job now, but since I hope to be home alone in Saturday and Sunday, I also hope I'll be able to come by and at least update the Story Thread...

@Dobber:
In that case I'm not sure about the position of your troops.
As far as I figured it:
The town is to the west of the battlefield, the allied army is facing south. My troops are in the far west, at the town walls (in the direction we're facing: right). They have moved south towards the enemy and are now fighting the byzantine reserves. East of me is Traveller, propably also engaged in combat by now. Further east, in the original position, were Dobber and Kuno, in that order. At the east end Richard and Hawk Knight are fighting off the flanking arab and byzantine forces.
Kuno then took most of his men eastwards to help Richard and Hawk Knight. Dobber is now shooting arrows at some byzantine troops I can't locate. Did you also move south, alongside Traveller (east of him)? Or did you move behind my positions (in the west of the battlefield, near the city)?
I also thought that no byzantine troops could come from the north, but I couldn't make out another spot where you could be fighting troops that would otherwise attack me. (Considering that west of me is a wall, east of me is Traveller and south of me is the byzantine battle line, currently mostly reserve troops, which only leaves north open, which is my rear.)
I guessed you expected that byzantine dispatchment to have opened the northern gate by now, which I originally tried to lock. That would have been a senseful reason for byzantines appearing in the north and would also fit to the original position you had before I and Traveller started moving south.
I'm of course open to all other opinions about the current situation and will change my post as fast as possible. :go:

Wasn't there a diagram that supposedly showed our positions? I'll search back through the postings and see if I can find it. I was thinking my position was east of you in such a spot that I was able to cover you from the advancing reserves from the south. I thought you and the others from Adrianople were preparing to make a stand where you were, but the story is so spread out and we have been sporadic with our posting that now I am confused!

No, actually the byzantines are in the position that the longer it takes the better, because a part of their troops were in the town initially. We were the guys who had to advance as quickly as possible.
By the end of my reply entry the byzantine troops in the city should have managed to leave it, though.

I must be shooting arrows into Traveller's arse then!

I guess that my explanation with the breached northern gate would fit the situation quite well then, no?
Angryminer
Then, I could throw down the standard and raise a Byzantine standard and just attack you and Traveller  . Oh the choices! What to do? Do I want to become a traitor? How much Byzantine gold would it take? Or am I to Honorable to be bought? What did Sakim and I really talk about before I rushed out and killed him? Was he about to reveal me as a Byzantine spy?
Oh the possibilities! What to do? Decisions, decisions, decisions!
Oh well that can wait a little bit yet, I have to go earn a living now!

You died at least once trying to get to the battlefield to beat the byzantines and now you're considering switching sides?
It'd need a lot of money to convince me to do that.

What?! Dobber, you're intending to shoot arrows at my...?!
Btw, could you use Romans/Romeans in the logs instead of Byzantines? It adds a bit more realism and atmosphere, since Byzantines is a relatively modern "invention"...

I thought we were writing within a period of time beyond the Roman Empire???
And all of us have been using Byzantine throughout the whole story, why did it just now become a problem?

dobber you forget one thing  more then half your army are men of mithrill who are loyal to there king hawk_knight  and would not join the Byzantine army. as what they had done to mithrill they would rather die then join the Byzantine army:wink:
so be on your guard dobber if you wanna switch ad i got some very loyal comanders with my troops. which will not hesitate to kill you if your a traitor
You know, now that you put it like that, I think we will just do nothing at this point in time! I was actually just playing around with Angryminer, teasing him a bit, never intending to become a traitor(how could I after all I had gone through). Was gonna write something later today or tomorrow, but I think now I will wait a couple of weeks, let these Mithdrill men sit and slobber to get involved!

Using Byzantines is not a problem. Replacing them with their real name Romans is just more realistic and adds to the atmosphere, I think. And I've been using Romeans/Romans since almost the beginning, IIRC. And, btw, the Roman Empire ended in 1453 with the fall of Constantinople. Don't forget that Byzantium is the modern name for the Eastern Roman Empire!
Btw, sorry, but I was quite busy today, so I couldn't update the thread. I hope I'll have some time tomorrow. Sorry!
